Jonathan Blake - Passage

A '23 release by Mr. Blake, a contemporaneous drummer, which our times has not permitted for the graceful eloquence of pre-new-Millennia brazenness, and hard-shelled extremities of canonical jazz. Here, the listener finds, only a semblance of freshness, in many aspects of the music performed, but evidently enough, also some token of stiff composure, that certainty, cannot retain posture, for prolonged periods for time, and awkwardly, at that, with little charm, to be accepted as captivating.

Thematic for a late Friday night.

Tempered by high melodicism and equated with harmonic rhythms.

Crimson night.

Rightly held up as a seminal recording.

Tension and resolution.

Glorious.

Recorded as an effort to pay down a handsome debt he owed to the IRS, Willie ended up dropping one of his most emotional and affecting releases which featured just himself and his old guitar, Trigger.

King Crimson - In The Court of The Crimson King

A 2016 release by Mr. Jack DeJohnette, a drummer and band leader on this release.

A marvelous 2017 release by a very well known jazz drummer, Louis Hayes, whom contributed significantly, to the making of the canonical value of Be-bop's immediately recognizable eminence.

A most delightful recording, a rare recording, rediscovered recently, so obscure, that they cannot identify the bassist, who is by all measures, marvelous.
