I've been listening to this album for a while, and I only like it more and more.

I think 85 is somewhat of an insult to it. Atleast on this site. I mean there are two 90 scores above this review, and there's no fucking way those albums match this one. My score for this album is 99/100.

It's not just "wierd". Sikth captures those extreme emotions, guilty thoughts, and all that stuff we try to lock away within ourselves, and their music just explodes with it. As you said, it was an album made without boundaries.

And while I think every song is killing, my personal favorite of the album is Such The Fool.

Haha! I'm so glad this album has finally got a review here, and a very good one at that. Cody you are spot on with most of what you say, I only think the quote should be slightly higher, but then, as you have said in the past, it is the words that matter more.

I gave this album 93. My one and only complaint with it is that some of the psychedelic mellow sections go on slightly too long and can sometimes disrupt the flow of the song. Other wise, it is just pure awesomeness distilled. This is a band that truly OWNS TDEP and all the other math/tech bands in existence, even Meshuggah.

I had the fortune to see them live last year, and one of the singers (forget his name!) did a performance of the spoken word piece, and it was incredible. Everyone in the audience was asking how many effects he must have used, but every single syllable was done live.

85 sounds about right, good work. Skies of Millenium Night is my current favourite but most of the songs are great. Glad to see it was finally reviewed, yay!

ps: no way I can find the least of similarities between Sikth and Meshuggah, another reason to ignore that fucking stupid "math metal" sub-sub-pseudogenre. Avant Garde is fine.

Yeah this is true, but there's no reason why comparisons can't be drawn nonetheless. And to be fair, "avant-garde" is even vaguer.

Doesn't really matter anyway.

This band is bad. I saw them live a few years ago and they were fine, but on record they're pretentious tosh. I'm tired of people comparing Sikth to truly great bands like Dillinger Escape Plan and Converge when they aren't fit to lace either bands boots.

Dillinger Escape Plan has superior drumming (some of the best I have ever heard), and their more trippy songs are indeed very cool. However, when they delve into the aggressive hardcore aspects of the music, some of their originality is taken away in place of hardcore standardization. Converge is even worse with this. Sikth has influences obivously, but it is completely their own sound. But, since we are talking opinion here, more power to you man. Keep on enjoying Dillinger, they get my respect for sure.

I labeled them as Avant Garde because their sound is way too complex to label them one way or another in the classification scheme. Avant Garde is a good way to define experimental music.

I may be being pretty harsh on them but I live in England and I had to put up with this band being hyped up as "Britains answer to Converge" for about a year before the album dropped, so I was expecting BIG things. As it turned out it wasn't up to the hype and the band practically disappeared but now seem to be being revived on metal sites for some reason.

Do they actually sound like Converge though? Because Converge sucks hard.

There are very few similarities between Converge and Sikth.

Yes they do. Sikth is a billion times better and in a genre of their own. The comparison is stupid.

I don't think they sound like Converge, it was just the British press that was hyping them up to be that way. And me being a massive Converge fan I was expecting something good. Converge even said in an interview that when they heard Sikth they were shocked at being compared to such a lame band.

I guess that's because Converge fucking suck and wouldn't know good music.
