I'm undecided on whether to buy this one. I have all the records up to Countdown, as well as the new one. I've been stalling on buying Youthanasia because I'm one of the fans what thinks Countdown was too much of a move away from the ''real'' 'Deth sound. Is it worth my time buying this, anyone?

The Killing Road is one of the worst songs ever. How the hell is it a killer track?

I think this album is not as good as Megadeth's previous albums. Their sound changed a little bit in Countdown, and I think that could be their best album. For Youthanasia they kept the same sound but the songwriting is somehow different. I have this album since it came out and I have never gotten hooked to it.

Hell, this is actually my favorite Megadeth record. I was waiting for MetalReviews to write a review for it. Although I would personally give it about a 94/95, I thought this was a well written, legitimate review overall. Youthanasia's IMO an especially good album to listen to when you're exercising/lifting weights.

Are you kidding me? That had one of the best riffs Mustaine's ever written. And that solo. Awesome!

Yeah, but the song as a whole blows.

This is not the best, nor is it the worst. I'd say its a half assed power metal album. Granted when I was younger I really loved this album...but I kind of think it sucks now....its boring, but as a whole not terrible. Mustaine basically fell off the face of the planet after Rust In Peace. So its no suprise to me that he continues his shit train in an effort to make money and bad mouth not only Metallica, but his bass player from the beginning. What the fuck, the guy has been with you from the start, and you wont even consider him an equal. Oh well, Megadeth sucks now and I could care less what happens to them.

I bought this CD when it first came out and it was my first Megadeth CD. I hated this CD so much I didn't buy another Megadeth CD for 6 years... now I have all their CDs but Youthansia was a huge let down for me. I like it a little better now but I'm glad to see a realistic review.

Aside from Risk this is probably the least favorite Megadeth album.

Something that has always confused me is why some metal heads bash Youthanasia but consider Countdown To Extinction this metal masterpiece. I mean, the change from Rust in Peace to Countdown was the biggest change Megadeth ever made. I remember buying Youth about a month after Countdown and seeing no real difference between the two in terms of accessibility. If anything, I actually found Youthanasia to be a darker/heavier album than Countdown. And let's be honest here, Countdown was just as big a sellout as the Black Album (Mustaine admits it himself). So why is it hailed as this masterpiece by so many metal heads, and yet Youth gets generally mixed opinions from them?

neither is a masterpiece, but Countdown to Extinction is much better than the lame and depressing Youthanasia.

I agree, which is why I don't like Countdown To Extinction that much either. It's quite possibly one of the most overrated Metal CD of the 90's. It has some good songs but masterpiece it ain't.

This album, while not as good as any of their thrash albums, is definitely a solid, good power metal album and kicks Countdown to Extinction's ass. Hell, for 1993, this is amazing.

Ah to hell with it, I'm probably going to buy it. It's always going cheap in my local record shop anyway. One more question, is it worth forking out a few extra £££ for the re-issue?

Eeh, it's a decent album. I wouldn't really buy the re-issue if it's worth mosr money, just buy the original if you must.

(Oh, and by the way, your signiature is priceless)

This album is one of two that i have actually purchased. Aside from Rust, So Far, So Good & Peace Sells, this album is their next best.

Wicked tracks such as Reckoning Day, A Tout Le Monde, Elysian Fields, Blood Of Heroes, Family Tree, I Thought I Knew It All and Black Curtains. I actually like the way they sound on this album.

Oh yeah, and the other Megadeth album I bought......Risk, and I rekon that album is great too.

I am not sure, but I think it sounds better, I think there are some subtle changes and sound quality sounds better. I find it now very enjoyable. Plus some nice bonus tracks.
