Metal with a poppy chorus is different to pop dressed up as Metal - something you accuse Edguy of being at every opportunity. The fact is the song in question is a pop song with a solo.

I accuse Edguy of doing crappy pop metal... A7X are heavy/power metal with some pop oriented choruses which is absolutely no problem for me... actually, I think they just refreshed (modernised) the formula Maiden mastered on both Somewhere In Time & 7th Son...

so, to sum things up, call it pop metal, mainstream metal or whatever you wish to... it remains good metal songs and there's nothing wrong to enjoy this kind of treat !

No, I mean that you seem to go out of your way to take the opinion unpopular amongst most metalheads at all times.

Ie. Edguy - very popular amongst fans of Power Metal.
Avenged Sevenfold - generally depsised by people that aren't mallgoths.

I don't try to be original or anything... all I do is listen to the music and my heart/soul/brain does the job for me...

so I don't like Edguy much even if they're popular and yet I enjoy A7X though they are despised as mallcore posers...

Ditto here. I meant that they are not power metal, nothing really wrong with pop-metal, not that I can think of many other examples of it right now...

And A7X are mallcore posers. The whiny singing puts me off completely, but then I'm not an Emo kid like you, so that's to be expected!

And I don't like Edguy either. And not because they're homosexuals.

if it was their debut most of those who hate them because of where they came from would sing the grandeur of Avenged Sevenfold

I despised their previous recordings but this one reminds me both of the best Hair Metal & the finest 80's Heavy Metal !!!

I could agree if there wasn't those horrible vocals... I'm gad their singer had to change...

Although i've detested this band for years now mostly due to their image, non-metal ethic, and appeal to every 13 yearold emo girl, some of their old stuff was actually quite good MUSICALLY. this new album is a load of immitative tripe bent on making their music more appealing to a mass audience. AVENGED SEVENFOLD IS TO METAL WHAT SIMPLE PLAN IS TO PUNK... and i can argue this until the cows come home

so, basically, what Hair Metal was to metal ? In that case I agree and it's totally fine by me ! A7X are a kickass fun metal band, everything I'd wished DragonForce to be until I finally heard them !!! :twisted:

Im lost how poeple compare these two?
Understand wqhy people like both, but I dont hear similarities in the two bands except that they are both heavy metal with some (speed) involved.
I agree that the new A7X has catchy tunes, but I will not rush to eject my Dragonforce because of lyrics?

How fun a band is is up to the listener...Darkthrone can be fun if you go about it in the right frame of mind.

I always thought DF were a deliberate power metal piss-take, which made them almost likeable in my eyes...almost.

And, to be fair Stefan, you do go on about A7X rather a lot. Maybe if you recommended something else people (ie WiC :roll: ) wouldn't attack you. I know you don't give a shit, but hey, just my few cents...
