I never was much of a ZZ Top fan. Not even in my classic rock faze. Although "La Grunge" is an awesome song.

ZZ Top kicks much ass. Billy Gibbons is one of the craziest motherfuckers ever to pick up a guitar.

MTV era ZZ Top was when MTV was actually a music channel, it was VERY different back them! If you like bluesy shit, go for anything before Eliminator.

you're probably too young to know it but we (metalheads) despised MTV from the very moment it appeared... Metal has always been confined to its ghetto except for the few hair metal/ballads that made it to the everyday playlists... MTV has never been a shelter for metal and will probably never be...

...and we wonder why people listen to shit like the crazy frog. If metal was more widespread people would listen to it.

Thanks for suggestions, will check 'em out.

Stefan, i don't criticize MTV crap unless i don't like it. Is it wrong to say that sth is mtv crap because i think it is utter crap? Everything is easy for you to say, because you are older than most of us,more experienced and not to forgot more of a grumpy asshole than us

Well, I'm 29, so I unless you're 40 I'm not sure I can agree to this. Then again, I am a huge 80's rock fan still, so MTV served me well.

34 dude, been listening to hard rock/metal since 1978... and 5 years difference is quite a lot in the music world

1978 : Motorhead's debut album
1983 : Metallica's first album
it's like the world changed even in metal in those 5 years ! will you deny that ? :?

I may be a metalhead, but i always have time for a good rockin' out with ZZ Top, they rule.
Their best albums, imo, are the ones from the 80's (Eliminator, Afterburner) and Recycler, which was in 1990...i think. Didnt really like their sound from their early days, but do like a few tracks from Deguello & Tejas. Other good albums include Rhythmeen and Antenna.
I made a 2-cd "best of" compilation of ZZ Top's greatest hits, got 39 tracks on 2 cds, gotta love that...
