Seen them live a couple of months ago: mediocre hard/grindcore, nothing special really...

stupid fucker does joke again  though i understand what you meant ! yes, there's a grind core edge to DEP on stage, but also a jazz edge, a pop edge, a fusion edge etc... kinda like a raw version of Fantastic Mike's MR BUNGLE (with whom the band did an EP last year)

and the album is their easiest one listenning to... a grand oeuvre of avant garde metal core... give it a try !

One of my friends really likes them and plays it for me all the time. But eh...math metal doesnt really do anything for me.

I'm not a math metal fan either. I saw them live once and was really unimpressed. It just sounded like noise to me.

I'll admit I've only heard one song (saw the video on Scuzz TV) but it just sounded like a needlessly speeded up racket. Pass.

The first time I heard Panasonic Youth I was impressed. I decided to look into the band before I rushed out an bought the CD... Glad I did... Now I haven't heard ever single song that they've done, but the rest, that I've heard, either annoyed me or just didn't do anything for me...

indeed, some nice songs but loads of shit, when i saw them live, they were followed by Nile. Thus even if they were extremely good they were to be obliterated anyways...

Ehh... I've heard it, and it sounds like a big racket to me. I don't really like it much.

I mnot very big on this hardcore/math to many time changes to keep any form of melody type metal! I cannot get into this at all and of course preceeding Nile would only have forced me to go to the bathroom or eat!!
No comparison between those two!

I agree, this "math" metal movement is mind boggling-- how can a music without melody be truly music?

The noisier and more chaotic it is the better it is. I find it hard to believe that metal fans are complaining about a band being too fast and chaotic. Grow some bollocks please.

When chaotic technicality is done really well, there's just something amazing about it that makes me tingly all over. I love listening to it.

there is indeed a big difference between technical litany (cryptopsy), and plain noise (most of dillinger's output).

I dont even think they're that technical. WHen I hear some of their stuff compared to say....Watchtower's Control and Resistance, or Eneregetic Disassebly, I laugh, because this is what a technical band should sound like. Or Death, you can be technical and still make sense. Not that Watchtower makes any sense....but hey, its still better than Dillinger...at least in my opinion.

Dillinger isn't noise. In fact if you dig deep enough you find melody, it just requires multiple listens and an open mind.

i wasn't really talking about the technical aspect, more about the chaos part, and dillinger escape plan is not very intelligent music, that's not hard to hear...

This is pure noise, and deep down, nobody in their right mind would actually enjoy noise. They're not even technical either, it's unitelligible, pure chaos. Just noise. I like a little melody with my music thank you very much, 'cos last time I checked, it was one of the most important parts of it...
