This one is certainly a surprise of the year.

Stunning album, and this all by ONE man (though the drums are played by a session drummer, doesn't matter :P). I was certainly amazed when I heard this debut, even more when listening it in the mountains on my vacation (Austria/Italy) :)

Overrated. This cannot compare to Ensiferum.

But of course, Ensiferum is much better. Much better at other things, this album is more Power Metal-like, Ensiferum is Folk/Viking. I find this release by Wintersun a great make-up for what Ensiferum did wrong on their last album Iron. Wintersun is very raw, yet melodic at times. Ensiferum's Iron lacks that diversion most of the time, it's just too slick for me I guess.

Wintersun rocks. Loose the signature graphic.

Yeah, Ensiferum - s/t is better; it's the album the millenium! But Wintersun is still truly amazing.

I would rate:
Ensiferum - s/t : 100/100 (no doubt)
Wintersun - s/t : 98/100
Ensiferum - Iron : 96/100

They are my all time favorites album.

I was oblivious to the fact that it was the guy from Ensiferum. At first I was just expecting Children of Bodom's Children but it's much better than that. It's a Finnish record to the core but that's the appeal.

This album is f**king amazing! Once it hits you, there's no turning back. I've had it for a month now and after 25 spins I am the least bored...GET IT NOW!!!!

The problem is that it still refuses to hit me. I can not comprehend the common enthusiam at all. I use to like this Melodic/Symphonic Black 'n' Death 'n' Doom stuff from time to time, but Wintersun is quite dull IMHO.
