Opeth is the most overrated band ever. Complexity does not mean random riffs here and there. In this case it's like you know you have to shit and you sit on the toilet but just cant get the crap out no matter how hard you push.

That prety much covers my opinion of this album.

I dont like Opeth anymore... i find them to be boring and without a real compact musical structure.

It's weird : I've several times asked in a post whether it's worth getting any more Opeth albums, or is the one I have (Still Life) more than enough, and everyone seems to ignore it. I wonder why... :)

Sorry. I would advise you to still get Blackwater Park and/or My Arms, Your Hearse. Both great albums. I didn't think Deliverance or Damnation were milestones by any means, but they were good. I haven't heard enough of this new one to make an educated decision. Hope that answers it for you.

We only ignore you because we hate you.

Thanks for advice.

Opinions on Opeth albums tend to have little middleground since people tend to form a kind of unique perception of the music. I like all of them, but there are some people that really don't like Morningrise but love Blackwater Park and vice versa. My opinion would be to check em' all out, but in my opinion the best albums are (in no particular order) Ghost Reveries, Morningrise, My arms your hearse, and (lets not forget) Still Life

Well, how much do like the album you have? Still Life is the only album I never got around to getting, but I assume it's not entirely dissimilar from the two surrounding albums (insane people will suggest that every album is completely uniquely different in every way, but they aren't).

Since you already have a later-period album though, try one of the first two. I'd suggest Morningrise. They have a much different feel and style to them, which I personally prefer to the later albums. That way you get a nice cross-section of the band. Whether you need more than that really depends on how much you like the band from what you have.

I second the My Arms, Your Hearse vote. That's their best.

I like album I have, but was a bit wary about trying any more in case it was the same thing again. But thanks, I'll have a butcher's.

That prety much covers my opinion of this album.

lol! very descriptive, but im gonna have to disagree on that. Opeth is original and each of them are muiscal genusies. I know many people would disagree with me on that but, i guess you really have to have an ear for Opeth, every millisecond is something totally unexpected and so damn amazing that it blows me away. By the way, do you hate this album or Opeth all togeather?

Even if Opeth WAS good, your statement still reaches untold heights of extreme unintentional hyperbole, heights rarely seen by us mortal men.

So yeah, it was funny.

Well anyone is free to disagree but I do have a musical ear and being a fan of Black Metal for years I have learned to hear all the little shit going on on the background. But the case with opeth is that IF YOU DONT HAVE AN EAR you THINK they're playing something awesome but actually nothing intresting is going on. Good riffs are there in the album OI have to accept. But Opeth is too easy to guess. Musical genious? I think you should hear some Arcturus first to say that. Opeth is so damn easy to guess I can guess what's going to happen or when the boring shitty classic guitar part is going to start. I can't understand how you guys find it soo different, it's all the same album over and over again with different riffs.

I hate Opeth altogether. I've given a lot of time to Opeth and I have all their albums and I have listened to all of them over and over again only to find the same shit over and over again.
