Whilst Nymphetamine might not adhere to 'tr00 kvlt' stereotypes and such rot, the CD has more than a smattering of loosely-defined black metal.

I'm not arguing with the genre, it covers the CD's sound about right.

If it isn't, as you put it, "tr00" than it isn't black metal, it's shit. Get "kvlt" or get out!

I have a better idea: If you have nothing to contribute to the topic other than foolish ranting and weak insults, why don't you go make more topics about early Samael and Rotting Christ or whatever and leave the people who are trying to discuss this topic intelligently alone.

I'm actually quite fond of the CD. Sure, it sounds a more commercialized, and maybe all of the cool orchestrations from Damnation are gone, but this album focuses more on the riffs due to the noticable lack of keyboards and symphonic bits. When I first heard songs like Nemesis, I thought that Cradle had sold out to the typical radio metal, but as I listened to it some more, I realized that there was something more. this certainly isn't your typical Cradle, but I have to say the breakdown from Satyriasis to the opening riff of Gilded Cunt is certainly one of the most exciting I've heard. This album actually does have some interesting tempos and riff structures, and even though I was rather dissapointed by them not having the orchestra accompany them, I still found something quite enjoyable from them. I'd probably give it somewhere around an 82.

Oh My God I hate Cradle of Filth. This has got to be the faggiest band on the planet playing the faggiest brand of what they call symphonic black metal. Black Metal has no symphonic characteristics and is primitive and evil sounding. Thats why Emperor is not black metal..and these fags sure as hell arent. It is an insult when people who claim to know metal endorse this band and the shit storm they are raining down on metal credibility.

If it's not Black Metal, then what is it? Even with a symphony, Black Metal can still sound insidiously evil, and sometimes, the symphony can make Black Metal sound even more evil, and give it an overall creepy atmosphere.

Old cof was symphonic bm, and later emperor is too, new cradle is death metal with vocals that come closest to black, and a commecialized sound (dare i say nu-metal influence?).

Commercialization is not, in itself, a nu-metal trait. Nymphetamine has an Iron Maiden feel to it, what with all the guitar harmonies and melodic lead intros.

If the tempo were bouncy and the drums played conservatively while start-stop riffs dominated, then it could be considered to have nu-metal influences.

I can't feel much of a 'death metal' thing here, though. Perhaps it's the staccato, speedy drumming?

My entire post was saying that it DIDN'T have nu-metal influences, defining what, precisely, nu-metal influences would make it sound like, and then asking you what made you think of death metal.

Woops, I really misread...

nu-metal influence through the poppy songstructures, and commercialized sound, though that can indeed be discussed because it's not a preticular tend of nu-metal. death metal -> heavy guitars, drums, riffs, etc.

S'allright.

As for poppy songstructures, that can certainly be verified. No longer are sixteen things going on at once in the background, it's really just a few things at once now. Easier to follow, but less satisfyingly cacophonic.

I suppose one could consider death metal to be the overriding archetype for this, but one could consider the same for all black and death metal. Hell, Deathcrush and Pure Fucking Armaggedon were really death metal recordings anyway.

Again I reiterate, Emperor is not black metal....completely. From Welkens onward they are a death/black hybrid...who is actually probably one of the most novel approaches taken to metal, Cradle of Filth is not black metal and if you were to ask Fenriz or Nocturno Culto about it they'd tell you to fuck off and die.

OK, I just got the album because I thought: "I've always liked CoF, the fact that DaaD sucks doesn't mean I shouldn't give them a chance" and I must say that this album is a lot better than DaaD. Not even close to old CoF though.... Oh yes, and the single is obviously a money snatching gimmick to sell tons of albums to the Hot Topic kiddies, but apart from that, I think it's an acceptable album.
