i liked Disturbed when I heard them last (on The Sickness), but I can't see the point of labeling them 'Supercharged, Driving, Rhythmic, Mainstream Metal' (whatever it means), instead of just 'nu metal', 'modern metal' or 'alternative metal'

Haha, yeah. I figured Mainstream Melodic Metal would work rather well to describe their current sound. But the genres often get wacky here, no harm done I guess.

And Slayer of Kings made a good point. This may be a semi-respectable outing when compared to their peers, but that doesn't give them listening priority over the dozens of other things I have in my listening queue. Nor does it, in my opinion, justify an 86.

I can't believe people are actually considering for one second that this album is worth listening to. For fuck sake metalreviews, stop being camp and review the new Akercocke or something. Last thing we need is the nu metal revival you seem to be promoting.

You have to take it in context. Does this stand up to Nevermore and Iced Earth, Nightwish, etc.? No fucking way. But alongside relative company this is a very good CD.

Then again, you can place it in the context of the metal albums being reviewed here. Or that of our personal tastes in metal. My point being, most of us do not choose to listen to its relative company, and as a result, most of us will not bother trying this. I know I won't.

That's fine. It's either your loss, or your gain.

Akercocke? Blèrg, what do we need fake BM for? I wouldn't make trouble about an Akercocke review, but this is actually better than them.

Wow, you're a dumb kid. Akercocke aren't even black metal. Shows you haven't even heard them, or that you just are plain retarded. Disturbed better than Akercocke

Akercocke. An amazing progressive death metal band with black metal influences.

Disturbed better than Akercocke

1. I am not a dumb kid.
2. Akercocke aren't black metal, but they do try to be. At least on the Choronzon I was stupid enough to buy after a praising review here. Sucky fucking norsecore/wannabe original stuff.
3. I did hear them.
4. I am retarded.
5. Disturbed are far too modern and mainstream for my taste, but that will not keep me from saying they did a nice job on this album.

Fuck øff!

Well of course it wouldn't justify an 86 if it's not a priority for you......you pass judgement before really having all the facts. I don't think one listen will kill you. Give it a try with an open mind! Did you always like what you listen to now? I can admit that I didn't. I never liked Priest, Crue, Maiden, Emperor, Opeth, etc until I gave them a try. I'm glad I did 8)

Wow. Coming on to the forums and tossing childish insults to one of the more knowlegable posters in these forums is not a good idea. That's not even considering the fact that he didn't personally attack you in any way. Lighten up; and that's not to be taken as advice.
