Krull? Why would anyone name themselves after a crappy sci-fi movie?

Sorry for the non-serious post..

Come on, Krull kicked ass back in the day! That boomerang/chinese star thing was awesome! :D

Vinland Saga is much, much better than Lovelorn. Much better. The unreleased tracks on the EP they released prior to this album are excellent, as well!

My girlfriend absolutely adores this album. Despite our being in agreement about music far more often than not, I simply cannot stand this album, however...

With all due respect, I would use the term "gothic" loosely with this album. There is almost nothing dark about it, and worse yet, it reveals itself completely within just a couple of listens. I think it sounds very, very pop/mainstream as it is very simplified, polished, and catchy. That style is, admittedly, not my cup of tea though, so I will be the first person to tell you that I have a biased perspective.

The one positive thing I would like to say about it though (aside from that it's only 45 minutes and thankfully not longer), is that I was really impressed with Liv Kristine's vocal performance. Granted, I'm only familiar with the earlier works of ToT, but I had no idea she was capable of singing like this. Very nice.

Everyone says things like "simplified, polished, and catchy" as if that is bad. The alternative is something like "overacheiving, under-produced, and boring." I'll take the former any day of the week! I like my music good.

I just don't get how "catchy" is used as a negative with music fans. It baffles me. Simple music is also not a negative attribute, nor is a polished sound. Should every band strive to play like Dream Theater and write songs with the quality level of Michael Bolton farting in the shower with the production quality of Black Flag circa 1984? Is that the benchmark for good music?

Well, despite my comments / tone, you'll note that I never actually did say what I would score it. I don't automatically equate my personal tastes with what's good or bad.

These three things are generally used as a negative because you can generally absorb any depth the album has in a few listens if it is simple and catchy. Polished is generally used as a negative because it implies a superficial sound that is sort of 'commercially sad' (if they are trying to sound sad) rather than actually sad.

As for the album, I'll check it out since Lovelorn was pretty good,

It is a good album, somehow no heavier, but thicker than "Lovelorn"

Now, are they Gothic? I do not know, to me this band is more a :

"Dark new Age" band why? , it just reminds me ENYA but in Dark.

All of the above with out negativity, since it is MO. and I like ENYA's music.

Far, far too poppy. I can't see Liv sticking with metal for long when she's said she wants to be the next Madonna.

First off, Krull did in fact kick ass.

Second, her voice really bothers me. I don't know what it is about it but something just bugs the shit out of me. From what I've heard they aren't writing bad music, but I can't listen to it at length.

I'd be happy that someone was actually going on about the music, not making fun of him...

You basically followed him around, making the same joke three times. What the hell?

And " " means you are laughing, not joking. As I've said before, does saying 'I hate you you bastard  :x  ' mean I am joking? No...

Having a bad day? Must you insist on creating a fucking fight? There was no malice in what I replied. Each reply was clearly a joke. A LAUGHING smiley signifies what? THAT I'M FUCKING JOKING AROUND!!

Eat a fucking shit-brick, you son of a tranvestite. :D A laughing smiley means that you're fucking LAUGHING, not that you're JOKING! Does your tiny brain recognise that fact, or were you skullfucked too many times as a kid? :)

:D :P   :x :? :) 8)    :?:

I have to say that i quite often laugh after making a joke. It seems somehow logical to me to put a laughing smiley after making a joke.

There's laughing at someone, and laughing with someone, and they're very different things.
