But there is no power in the vocals. Its power metal with harsh vocals, yes it's unique and good, but definitely not how Power Metal should sound.

You're a LIAR!!!!! Power Metal is awesome.

No but seriously, I can't say this is power metal, but I can say it is power metal with harsh vocals. Same goes for Children of Bodom.

there is a lot more than harsh vocals to Wintersun... their power is to be found within the compositions, arrangements etc... imo, that's how more power metal should sound like considering the guitar work that is clearly better than what 99% of the power metal bands are capable of doing...

Ok, I can deal with that. And actually a lot of bands do have that. Just wait until Cellador's release in Spring. I heard a few samples and, well, Holy fucking balls!!

woah, woah, hang on a second my metal friends. This isnt only Power Metal, its BlackEND(lyrics), death(voice). And Fingon, you cant say that thier better than children of bodom, i might agree with you on that but, their 2 somewhat different bands. Hammerfall is Power metal and Dragon force. But yes wintersun is a little Power, but i still woudnt catagorize them as Power, i would more Melodic Epic Death. And Fingon this is original, when do you see bands put Power,Death,Black, and folk influence all togeather and have done it very well? not many. But then again its your opinion so i respect that.

Well, I guess that Blackened, Epic, Folk Influenced, Power Death Metal is a rather good explanation after all.

Starchild is the best metal song of 2004... Dunno if it can be considered Power Metal.... It's just an epic masterpiece.... :dio: definitely the album of the year 2004.

Let's keep this thread alive forever :D
Or until Time is released, which I hope will be VERY SOON.
If I had to choose a favourite song from the album I think it would be Battle against time, but it's a tough choice.

I got this CD a week ago. I haven't listened to it too much, but so far it's amazing. Some of the best musicianship I've ever heard...

It's weird how this album and Arsis's debut are two of the better/more original melodic death albums in the last 5-10ish years and they're both by two-person bands...

conspiracy?

also I really don't get the genre tag for this album lol.

Arsis is a full band and Wintersun was a one man band if I remember right.

Arsis only has a full band for touring. and I thought Wintersun was the dude + a drummer... might be wrong htouhg

I don't know about Arsis, but yes Wintersun is the one guy (don't know how to spell his name...) and a drummer.

And I agree about "Death and Healing". Incredible song! I love the chorus.

Very good album. Jari Mäenpää is very talented musician and songwriter.

I can't wait for their new album.
