The title track might be te one of the best songs they done together with Silver and Gold and Final Embrace. It's one of the best metal ballads i've heard. Also Diabolous is a excellent ballad. Unfortunately the fast paced songs bring nothing new, "Question of Honour" is a Sinner cover which is in fact worse than the orginal, it fits a lot of better with Mats voice and in this version the production is more raw which makes it feel of somewhat of a demo that Sinner would have recorded before they released it on their album! "Immortal Ones" and "One for all" are also very good midtempo tracks. There are 4 great songs, rest of it feels somewhat like fillers :/ I expected more from them!

79/100

Good Review. I really liked the fact that Primal Fear has matured and gone for their own sound on this album. They really do not sound like they are ripping off Priest at all in Seven Seals. You can still hear a slight Priest influence but I also hear some Rage, Brainstorm, and an overall more modern feel. Definatetly my favorite album from them and will be on my top 10 list of 2005!

90/100

I've been looking forward to this one for a while now.I thought that Devil's Ground was a great album so I'm looking forward to poping this in my CD player.

One of my favorite releases of the year... Some tracks are filler, but most are catchy, fist pumpin' anthems.

Bleh. I heard samples of every song and they did nothing for me.

Primal Fear are one of the few big Power Metal bands that I really don't dig.

"Carniwar" is actually playing right now on a Music Choice channel. I'm not much familiar with this band, but one question: Did this dude try out for Judas Priest?? Holy fuck he sounds like Rob Halford on this tune!?!?

A band worth checking out?

This dude is actually Ralf Scheepers, from the first Gamma Ray albums. If I remember correctly, I think he quit GR because he wanted to join Priest, he knew he was on JP's list for some time but eventually he wasn't accepted because Priest decided to look for a native english speaker. Disapointed with that, Ralf hooked up with Matt Sinner and founded Primal Fear together. You should check them out, they're a very good band.

I heard he quit Gamma Ray b/c he lived to far away from the band.

Also, according to Mike from Metal Reviews, Ralf Scheepers was also the lead singer far Scanner for a short period of time.

Amazing vocalist.

He also sang for Tyran Pace on a couple albums in the 80's (maybe I'll do an archive on those soon). From there, Axel Julius recruited him to sing for Scanner, but he never performed with the band (that I know of), nor did he record any albums with them as he got the Gamma Ray gig almost right after joining Scanner. Of course, Ralf's days with Gamma Ray are well documented. After splitting from Gamma Ray, Ralf did make a guest appearance on Scanner's 1997 album, Ball of the Damned. Some 10 years after becoming a member of Scanner, Ralf finally appeared on a Scanner album! After missing out on Judas Priest, he formed Primal Fear.

Really? I didn't know about Ralf in Scanner. Hmmm a Scanner album with him would be most interesting. I never recognised Ralf on Ball of the damned, I have to play that album again to see on what song he appeared.

Nice. Six degrees of Ralf Scheeper! So Matt Sinner (from Sinner?) is in Primal Fear, too? Wow. I'll definitely have to check them out now! Too much metal, so little time!

If I stopped buying rap CDs I could buy more metal, right?

Radagast, you idiot, this album is excellent!

Wow, so impressed with this about-turn from Primal Fear (and I'm only 8.5 songs into my first listen). I'm usually not a huge fan of the faux-symphonic sound, but I'm really digging what PF are doing here. Finally they seem to have found their own sound.

And hey, Carniwar rocks, Mr Reviewer.

OK, so I just finished my first spin of this CD! I picked it up earlier today for $6.99. I must say, it's worth triple that amount! This album is doparific, yo! Seriously, why have I sat on this band? This album rules. How does it compare to their other albums?

Everyone is dead on. I don't like Sinner though but worship Primal Fear for some reason. Black Sun is my fave, but Seven Seals, especially Rollarcoaster and Carniowar just smoke.

You know everyone goes on about how different it is, but for me isn't that different, maybe a little more melodic and not quite so much Halfordisms with his voice, other then that it just sound pure Primal Fear to me, which seems very love or hate for a lot of people.

What shocks me is fans of the very mediocore half filler album Painkiller seem to detest Primal Fear for some reason which boggles my mind at times.
