If this is true, then I need to get Pink Bubbles Goes Ape.

Yup, I like Mrs God fine (the song, not some omniscient female being).

I think the use of less keyboards for the new Stratovarius album is a breath of fresh air. The keys in the last few albums had begun to go "over the top", taking over songs. Now with less keys, the songs are more melodic yet with the typical strato touch.
That review which was posted is ok, but felt a bit of bias against the band. The album doesnt deserve a score of 5/10, you would see that most reviews would give a 7 or 7.5, no more than 8.
For the record, i rekon maniac dance kicks ass, and one of strato's best songs...ever

Oh man. Trooper I am finding myself disagreeing with you more and more. How could you say such things? This album shouldn't even be considered metal.

Were's the double bass? were's the speed? Good thing is they didnt lose their sound, but just lowerd their tempo. I was expecting better from Stratovarius.

Wasn't expecting much after all the turmoil so wasn't dissapointed like Hammerfalls latest it's a solid ok album. I suppose I still buy their cds in the hope they will release something exciting.

From Sweden Rock Magazine (direct translation :P)

"Do like this: Take a deep breath, and breath out when Kotipelto hits a note without sounding like a sodomized wookie. Considering the fact that the album is 49 minutes long, this is probably the last thing you'll read."

:P

Great review Jeff ! It was a pleasure to read your comments, once again. :)

Vocally, it doesn't even sound like Kotipelto. This song will probably give many Stratovarius fans the wrong impression of what the rest of the album will sound like.

I totally agree about that !!!!

Well, I bought the album today and listened to it a couple of times already...hummmm...I don't really know what to think about it. I wouldn't say that it's a BAD album, but it's definitely the one I like the least from Strato. I don't really know how to explain this feeling or why, but I like their other albums almost 100 % and here, I'd say I like it just 50 % or so. I simply don't like "Maniac Dance". I also heard it live the first time and from the beginning, I didn't like it. But I can't explain why. On the other hand, I love "United" and "The Land of Ice and Snow" and the latter was so good live. To be honest, I am a bit disappointed with this album...but well. This kind of things happen...maybe it will simply take me more time to get into it and maybe I'll appreciate it better with time...

I gave that album numerous listens, and it sucked worse and worse with each listen. "Fight" is the only song worth a damn.

Everytime I try to listen to newer Stratovarius in general, it seems like I always end up listening to Episode or Visions before long. For me, that era was the obvious peak of the band. Infinite come close to that quality, but everythnig after that (especially this new one) just have no lasting value for me. Like you, I've tried to let this album grow on me, but EVERY time I do, I end up raeching for an older Strato album.

Visions
Episode
Fourth Dimension
Destiny
Infinite

Yep ! Definitely their best stuff !!!

But on their new album, I REALLY like "United"...especially the end of the song...from 4:12 till the end. This is the perfect song to hear "live", I think.
And I agree that "Fight" is good too.
Even though it's not my favourite album, I don't really regret having bought it, finally. But it surely could have been better.

I wouldn't count them out yet. I'm shocked that there even is a new Strato CD after Timo's crazy talk from a while back.

I could too one of my favorite Strato songs that song is worth the price for Intermission bar none.

And my fav from Intermisson AND as well their whole catalogue is the other 'new' song from it. "Will My Soul Ever Rest In Peace". With it's riffs at the time it promised somewhat heavier approach to Stratovarius' next release, which by now we know didn't quite happen with "Elements pt.1". To some extent it did, of course like "Soul Of a Vagabond" at least when compared to their earlier releases, esp. the dull & uninspired "Destiny" (couple good ones, hell-of-a-many fillers) and "Infinite".

But that track has it all, a true gem it is.
