Are you talking about Howl's Moving Castle? You do realize it's based on a book by a British author, yes?

no i didn't, sorry!

but still, the animation is japanese :P

the movie generally sucks. it's confusing, makes no sense at times and doesn't seem to have a point in the "plot".

While we're on the subject,

Peter Jackson > George Lucas

Lucas has 6 kickass Star Wars movies and 3 alos kickass Indiana Joneses but Peter only has 3 LOTRs and some independent unknown movies.

9 > 3

I win.

now that I read it that's really a crap argument

SW > Indy > Lotr

taht's my all time fav movie list.

Those "unknown" movies beat the crap out of almost anything Lucas has done. Dead Alive, Bad Taste...it boggles the mind. He also gets points for doing something as epic as LotR after those cult films, considering their content.

Truth be told, almost any dramatic movie ever made has better acting and dialogue than SW, but that's not the point

1- There's no way those movies are better than Star Wars that's your opinion but it's completely bullshit to me and probably 5 billion other people in the world.

2- Peter Jackson made a good movie but he had the worlds best book to base it on, it's not his wonder that movie is epic. I admit he has done a good job techically but really he didn't do %20 of what Lucas ever did for his movies.

3- Making an unknown movie doesn't make it cult. They're just movies nobody cares about.

On the contrary, if you mention Dead Alive or Bad Taste to a cult horror movie buff, they'll probably go on at length. You can't really compare them to Star Wars, though, you're right about that. That's simply because they're so utterly different, though. Dead Alive is about zombies, and Bad Taste is...well, what would happen if John Waters made horror movies. That's one of the reasons I'm impressed with Jackson for doing LotR; it's so radically different from his other stuff and turned out so well.

As for Star Wars being good movies, they're kind of schlocky. It's your basic space opera, nothing really more. Don't get me wrong, I really like the original trilogy and Revenge of the Sith as well, but they're not amazing pieces of film, especially story-wise.

(By the way, Kathaarian, I really like your new avatar.)

Indeed he does, I was never lost in that movie and understood all of it, as goes with all his other movies.

I've tried so hard to get into Star Wars, but I can't get passed Skywalker. Man he is a Nancy. He reminds me of Sylvester Stallon's son from the movie "Over the Top."

Allright then.

About the avatar, thanks but I think it's from a Burzum album :D .
I'm not sure though, I got it from a site and it said Burzum.

True. It's inside "Det Som Engang Var". Which is a kickass album, Kayla. :D

Saw Secretary. A very good film, Maggie Gyllenhaal > Jake. And that's the best I've ever seen James Spader.

I've heard Det Som Engang Var. Thought it sucked. It is a good piece of art, though.

The Devil's Rejects... I liked it more than the first and there was some sickly funny things in the movie, buuuut, it could have been better, 7/10.

I just saw "Oldboy".
For those who don't know it's an action/mystery movie from South Korea. I must say it has been a while since I saw a movie this effective. A man is prisoned for 15 years and his capturer also kills his wife during this time, so when he is released he must find out who did this, and why. Sounds very generic yes? Well that's not all...
If you have the chance I recommend this film, and for those who are still doubting, it got 8.4 and a place in the top-250 in the IMDB.com.

I want to see that, it sounds and looks good (octopus-eating, hammer-wielding!).

I almost made the same mistake but decided that I could go sleeping some other time.
