Civilization 4. Man this game is captivating. Don't recommend it to anyone who has exams coming up (I have...).

Or a life for that matter! That game should come with a warning label. I did not think it was possible to make a game more addicting than Civ 3.

Love the new 3-d graphics as well.

A real genius that Sid Meier is. He's managed to improve every aspect of an almost perfect game Civ 3.

Aaahh good 'ol WoW. I used to play that for a while, but I think I only quit because of college semester starting. Massive and fun game though.

I must be waaaaaaaaay behind the times:

After ten years, I finally bought Yoshi's Island for my SNES today off Half.com.

Still a damn good game, I say. Most of the games nowadays are becoming quite unoriginal anyways, with the exception of a few gems like Halo and Devil May Cry

Agreed. That may actually be why I've kind of lost interest in video games over the past few months (that and the fact that I'm usually too busy with things like school to really play them as much as I used to).

I'm kind of tempted to also buy Donkey Kong Country 2 a little later. Thing is, I've owned and beaten DKC 3 (along with the original DKC - getting 101% at that). I'm a little concerned about how dated DKC2 will seem in comparison to DKC3, even though some say it's the better game overall. I haven't played it since I last rented it about nine years ago.

All I can say is that DKC 2 is tied w/ DKC1 in my opinion and totally blows DKC 3 out of the water. If you remotely liked 3 at all , then you would love 2. Go for it.

Gotcha. I saw it on Half.com for as little as $11.00 so I think I'll go for it.

And by the way, avoid playing DKC 2 on an emulator. The emulation is totally screwed up so the graphics look too pixelated, and the scrolling halts at the end of the Pirate Panic level (ie. the game is basically unplayable after that point).

hmm... zsnes is a very good emulator, never had any problems with that one :)

about the originality of video games i agree. I'm sure the new generation will enjoy the games alot, but i sure don't... at least not as much, still can't wait to get my hands on ps3 :P .. but i miss the good ol' days with 2d platform games and old shcool rpg's. :? .. new games are striving to deliver a more realistic feeling, which is cool, but still feel more or less the same in the end, weither it's sports games or first person shooter games etc... 2d platform games are awsome.. of course it would be even less original if someone started to make such games again... :? But i can only imaging how tough it will be in 10 years to come up with something new, nobody else would have thought about.

but then again, same goes for movies and music...
