Back to the great album this thread was supposed to be about. It truly is a classic no matter what immortal emokid thinks. Oh and in no way is Dyers Eve a filler song. That's one of the best Metallica songs ever. So to summarize Emokid go back to listening to emo.

sorry for you pal but I think I'll keep listenning to Music, wiether it's emo, jazz, pop, techno, dub, funk, blues, or whatever may excite my intellect and soul....

but, just to clear something up, I'm no more Emokid than I am MetalHead... just both Emo (less emo theses days) & Metal are two of the genres I enjoy the most... so I'll kep it that way...

and, btw, I didn't say Dyer'sEve was a filler, just not up to Damage Inc in my opinion which your absolutly free not to share but respect !

In all seriousness, this used to be my favorite Metallica record. I remember listening to it at least once a week throughout the nine or so months after I bought it (September, 2000). Unfortunately, I kind of outgrew Metallica after getting into other, better metal bands (personally, Metallica and Megadeth are tied as my least favorite bands of the "big four"). Don't get me wrong. I like all Metallica's albums except for St. Anger and Ride The Lightning, but for me (and probably most of you), they were basically a Fisher Price "My First Metal Band."

Emokid...I thought we were gonna do some friendly fighting, thus I call you a poser, and you take it as the joke that it is...and call me a poser in return. And we go back and forth...for fun. But Husker...you were not invited, I've talked to Emokid enough to know that he does have knowledge about metal....you however don't.. SO shut the fuck up and mind your own business. This isnt about Pantera anymore so you can go and fucking weep over Dimebag's grave.

For me, Ride The Lightning was one of those "I know it's a great album, but I just didn't really enjoy it much" cases. I didn't like the way it was produced (don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with raw production, but I didn't really like the overall sound of Ride - even Kill'em All sounded better), and the album just had this very whiny/desperate sound that always turned me off. It's probably appropriate the title track was the title track since it clearly showcased a lot of what was wrong with the album IMO. It had four good songs in For Whom The Bell Tolls, Creeping Death, Fight Fire With Fire, and Fade To Black (three of which being, coincidentally, the album's most popular songs); but even those were ruined by the annoying production. The remaining songs were pretty weak/blah IMO, including Ktulu. To be perfectly honest, I don't care what you all think when I say this, but I'd rather listen to the Load twins than Ride.

ok, now that I know why, at least I can understand you.... btw, I have the same problem with some albums, sometimes the production doesn't do the trick for me... that's the case on Iron Maiden's Powerslave or Metallica's And Justice For All (that drum sound aaarrrggghhh !)...

and, maybe you don't care either, but I like Both & Reload though I find too much fillers on both.... that said, if you mix the best of Load & the best of Reload you have a solid mainstream metal album !

Hey, I'm glad I'm not the only one who liked Load and ReLoad. Though I'll agree that ReLoad in particular was fairly inconsistent in terms of quality (Low Man's Lyric never fails to bother me). Personally, I would've liked it if Metallica just kept the Load/Reload sound on St. Anger (may be a little heavier), rather than going for an all out "mid-life crisis metal" album (as the reviewer here brilliantly called it).

I don't have a problem with the drum sound, its the bass. Its like they turned the monitor up way too high. It makes my speakers sound like they are blown.

Master of Puppets has the perfect production, perfect songwriting, perfect cover..

They should have reviewed Satan's "Court in the Act" instead as Metallica totally ripped their sound off. Both of Satan's albums were better than anything Metallica ever did anyway. So speaking of respecting the dead how about credit is given where credit is due....to a dead band.

Satan is a quite well known NWOBHM band....Blind Guardian even covers Trial By Fire on Tales from the Twiglight World......so just because you havent heard it doesnt mean that its obscure. So please, if you don't know about something just wallow in your ignorance and let the real music fanatics handle this....whatever it may be. So again I'll reiterate....just because you havent heard of a metal band...

1.) Doesnt Mean They Suck
2.) Doesnt Mean other people havent heard of them.
3.) Shut up.

oh and someone talking about a band that Metallica ripped off isnt new, so you shouldnt act surpized. There are people like me who have noticed the slew of bands Metallica has blatantly ripped off. the only time in their careers that they were original were Load and Re-load.....and Shit Anger, and all of those albums suck...SO thats what happens when a shitty band stops copying other people and produces their own shitty shit.

for your information, I knew Satan but who does really care about old NWOBHM in 2005 ? Man, the classics are the clasics and I am sot saying Satan are an owful band just that they're not part of the classics... to be honest, you sound like you want to exclude anybody without your amount of metal culture which sure is huge... that's not an healthy attitude to me...

so to sum up the whole thing i'd say : whatever you think of metallica is irrelevant to the millions of people who enjoy their music... I have my opinion, you have yours, that's perfectly fine but please stope being this arrogant fvkk telling people with whom you disagree to shut up... Metal is NOT War !

Did I make myself clear ?

PS : Metallica are plagiarist you say... where are the proofs, when did they get condemned ?... they're quite rich you know... do you seriously think an old unknown band who got copied by metallica would not sue ?

You're using record sales and how accesable a band is to define how good they are....that is soo fucked up. And Satan's debut album is considered in many "learned" circles of metal to be a classic. I retract my previous statement of you being learned in metal...you are a casual listener. And thats fine for you, but not for me. And who cares about NWOBHM in 2005 you ask?....people that are sick of metallica and nu-metal watered down power metal shit heads like Edguy and the shitload of NWOSDM bands that all sound alike. SO thats where I'm coming from...and your casual musical tastes are perfectly clear to me. To me Metallica is the equivalent of the Bee Gee's, while Satan would be up there with King Crimson and Yes as far as musical genius. Satan invented the heavy metal sound you think metallica represents so well, they fucking invented it and got no credit because assholes like you didnt pay attention to them cuz they arent platinum selling, easily accesable artists. So thats why I tell you to shut up, cuz you sound like everybody else that can't form their own opinions. I am a more extreme lover of metal, thus I am justified in my opinions, because I actually mean it and live it. So if you want to match up knowledge and metal spirit with me, I'll take you any day, and I gurantee you have nothing on me......EMOkid, your name says it all, and I'm sorry that this is no longer friendly, but you've gone too far. You say too many "brainwashed" stupidities for my ears to tolerate. As you say I am an underground elitist....that title suits me fine because I do think that my metallic tastes are better than yours....more expansive for sure, and because I've heard more metal I can form better opinions than you, because I have more data and evidence to back it all up.

Suing is for Megadeth and Metallica, and I dont give a fuck how rich they are, and you shoudnt either cuz they sure as hell don't give a shit about your life, or whether you buy their new album, even though you probably would because they're sooo rich..how could it not be awesome. Talk about unhealthy attitude, I would equate you with a single animal in a larger herd of animals marching along to someone elses tune, but you're totally happy cuz you think its your own original idea. But I'm rockin the boat here, I dont want to destroy your comfort zone or your well informed opinions.

in my opinion you shouldn't be allowed to talk to people before your psychaitric check up... or maybe it's just you ran out of your medication... anyway, on metal knowledge, I'm not afraid of you, I know what I know and it way more than you think it is...

believe me, NWOBHM is dead and not so many good bands came from it as it is from every metal scene and it's perfectly normal... you always have the leaders, the followers and a few cult bands that couldn't make it into leaders... why is that so ? I don't have the answer but, one thing for sure, Satan still is a second rate band as are Prayin Mantis or Diamond Head and, sure, some bands that made it to a bigger audience aren't that good... for example, I liked and supported Blitzkrieg and was disappointed not to see them succeed and others band I bought albums froms are : Grim Reaper, Tank, Girlschool, Rock Goddess, Tygers of Pan Tangs, Raven (okay, they're canadian), Chariot, Savage, Witchfinder General, Mama's Boys, Holocaust, Venom (still got my Black Metal pic disc), Demon, Tokyo Blade (an awful Iron Maiden copy, don't you think ?), Samson (specially with Bruce Bruce !)... I even bought a record from a band called More because they had an ex-Iron Maiden singing !!! so don't try to tell me you know better than me, you are truer than me... you're just more of an nostalgic elitist imo...

and I want you to notice this post goes without insult of any kind... try it too !

so, those pooooooor musicians that got stollen from Metallica never attacked them with the mighty help of Justice ? why is that so when they know Metallica is a rich band and they could get good money out of them ?

I doubt there are too many bands, mainstream or underground, that seriously care about our lives and whether we buy their albums. Well, actually, they probably DO care about whether we buy their albums. Whether a lot of metal fans like it or not, MOST bands (mainstream or underground) are largely in the music biz to make money. Otherwise, why aren't their albums and concert tours free? Look at Slayer and all those DVDs/boxed sets they've been releasing this past year and a half. You think they're releasing them mainly because they love their fans so much? Nope, they're releasing them to keep their paychecks going until their new album is released. I'm not saying these bands don't want to please their fans. I'm saying they aren't nearly as "fan friendly" as a lot of metalheads think they are.
