Ok, here's my band. Now before anyone says anything along the lines of "Man you guys suck, stop playing and never listen to music again" I should tell you we're a bunch of high school kids :P Most of us have been playing our instruments for only a few years and because we're all incredibly broke we recorded this in my basement with one mic and Apple's Garageband. So yes! The production is incredibly awful and it's riddled with mistakes! But if you can see past that I'd love any criticism you have to offer.

what kind of microphone were you using? You should check out the program "Audacity" btw, great free program.

The tapping on the solo is awesome, but the out of key shredding sucks majorly.

Don't knock GarageBand. The latest Nine Inch Nails album was recorded using it! You can even download the files from the official site and remix NIN stuff on your own Mac!

Apple rules!!

Looking at this mic, it says Apex 351, Uni-directional... thats about all I can figure out :P And yeah that solo was mostly improvised. We're reworking it now, trying to fix it up.

PS: Garage band does rule! I love it, believe me. But it's not quite the most professional program out there :D

Your music is catchy, has a little ugly tind that makes it a tiny little bit desperate (I like that), which is mainly caused by the production. I'd say keep the production this way (good productions suck, they take out the emotion), keep the good riffs comming and work on the slight sloppyness of the music (don't make it perfect). Overall it's not so bad at all, I like it. Maybe try adding some original elements, like breakbeats or violins, a piano or cello, warp-electronica or sadcore, those things always work.

No vocals eh? We were working on putting in some deathish vocals... but it wasn't working too well.

Then don't put in any vocals! The songs sound great as instrumentals.

My advice to you: Get a new name and a new logo for your band.

I just gave your stuff a listen. Definitely a solid piece of music. I agree with Dago about the production; not every genre benefits from uber-raw production. I'd say your stuff would work better with the cleaner side of things, though given the "rocking-ness" of it, a bit of fuzz certainly wouldn't hurt. I'd be wary of putting in growled vocals, unless they were pretty high (a la Anders Friden or Bjorn Strid). Even then, clean vocals might work better (though there's certainly no need for a high level of polish). Overall, you've got some good stuff here.

EDIT: I also agree about the name and logo. :P

Dude, don't ruin these songs by putting some retard on the mic that's only going to scream. Am I the only one that hears some serious NWOBHM here? You need a mid-range vocalist who go get up to some higher registers on occasion and get a bit gritty if necessary, but DO NOT PUT A SCREAMER ON HERE. That would ruin the songs.

I like them a lot, but if you get a metalcoremoscreamo guy on there you'll just mess it all up!

Hmm, I heard more something like old powermetal such as Brocas Helm. A stightly rawer production would fit that imho.

Or, you just might not want to put ANY vocals on. :P

You could, but I was hearing some vocal melodies in my head when I listened. Maybe I'll lay down some vocals to make a point! =)

Hmm I was going to throw in some clean vocals of my own once I got them figured out too. Unfortunately my voice isn't really matching the style of the music. Bjorn Strid eh? Time to break the old soilwork CDs out, and see what I can do.
