I think this is much better than Rapture, I think the sound is more dynamic. Definitely not Rapture part 2. Good review, though. What throws me off is that last song...it should have been a hidden track or something, it seems so awkward.

I like Rapture more, and as always, taste is subjective. But what I'm sure of is that anyone who loved Rapture will at least like this one a lot.

Right, neither is a bad album by any means.

I yet have to find a black metal band that has an intelligent album title.

A stupid title deserves a stupid explanation.

There is a dragon (Dragonlord, get it?) that has large black wings and is mighty enough to be your doom. Since the dragon will kill you, and it must fly to reach you, then the wings are carrying the destiny towards you and therefore are the black wings of destiny.

Pink Bubbles Go Ape got to be the absolute worst name, I might have been more interested in Helloween if they could write more interesting names/titles and lyrics.

Given that the dragon being referred to in the name is probably Satan, I'd think said wings are also a Satanic reference.

Here's something you all might appreciate. If you've ever watched Jeopardy, you know they have a category called "Before and After" wherein the answer is two words or phrases combined into an amusing new phrase, such as "Who is Abraham Lincoln Logs?" Here's one I came up with:

A: Matt Pike and Eric Peterson's stoner black metal band's recent release.

Q: What is Blessed Black Wings Of Destiny?

:) That actually would have been a better title.

Pretty good album, BTW. Picked it up today on a whim. The last song is my fav.

It wouldn't be the first Thin Lizzy cover I liked! 'Until the End' is really good as well.

Yeah, it's a Thin Lizzy cover. Very strange. Good song, but doesn't really fit on the album.

I gave it a 70, it's a good album but nothing outstanding...
The cover is fucking awesome btw!
Probably will check out something from Thin Lizzy!

I damn near bought this album just from the cover last week. I decided I better wait to hear some samples first, but now I wish I had picked it up earlier, I would have voted for it. Ah well. :?

I was really suprised at the cover since that exact same song was just recently covered by Mastadon in 04' on the Leviathan album. If you thought this song was out of place on Black Wings of Destiny, you should hear it on Leviathan.

Overall I thought this album was outstanding. Ive always felt that Dimmu Borgir kind of dropped the ball after Enthroned Darkness Triumphant, and to me this album was at least close to picking up where EDT left off. It has that same sort of "catchiness," especially with the keyboards.

I was going to say this too, but I didn't want to get flamed :)

Dragonlord is what Dimmu should have become!

I like it too! I mean, 78 is not a bad score, and I agree this is better than the latest Dimmu album.
