Maybe you should download it and listen with an open mind. I honestly can't remember what triggered the Korn explosion? There is not really one big radio hit on that album, it had been out for 2 years before it exploded onto the mainstream airwaves. "Blind" is the song you hear often, but even that song isn't very radio-friendly. That's why the label got them right into the studio after they blew up, the result was Life Is Peachy, a terrible fucking album, but it had radio hits ("Good God" and "A.D.I.D.A.S."), that was the beginning of the end for Korn.
Still, the debut and Issues are stand alone albums that are quite good separated from the main Korn catalog. Too bad their potential was squashed by way of the Durst syndrome.
I actually did download it, just now - now I know why everybody hates Korn so much. I liked Issues better than the debut by a fair margin because of the non-nu techno bits. The debut is the worst kind of mind numbing nu-metal.
If I was forced to listen to this kind of stuff, I would pick Manson and Bizkit over Korn. I can actually enjoy a song like Rollin or Rock Is Dead whereas Korn leaves me with a burning urge to put on something else.
