WHY IS MACHINE HEAD A CLASSIC???? WHY WHY WHY?? WHAT THE FUCKING HELL?

Haven't you asked this already?

Not with the same degree of intensity, but yes.

Ah, I see. I guess he didn't get the answer he was looking for.

It's just because it's not some obscure NWOBHM band.

Yes that is one reason why. The second is its waaayyy too young to be considered a classic. And the term classic means something timeless that will always sound good and fresh. This aggro bull shit is on the way out so I see no reason to include this in the classics section. Thats just my take.

On the way out? The style of that album was cock blocked by nu-metal and grunge! The album is not too young to be considered a classic. Maybe you can't recall, didn't pay attention, or were still in diapers when it came out, but this album had a HUGE impact on the metal world! HUGE! Thus, classic.

Judas Priest had a huge impact on metal. Machine Head did nothing but further degrade something that was already in a shitty state of affairs.

What justification do you have for that comment? That album is virtually a 90's thrash album, yes it has breakdowns, groove and melody, but it's a fucking killer metal album and it had a HUGE impact on the metal world.

Comparing them to Judas Priest is dumb considering the difference in how the music industry was when Priest was big.

Are you saying there's no trash on that album? Fine, it's a post-thrash album, whatever that means.

Why is it "post" anything? Look at it on its own right.

I don't think it's post-thrash. I was just saying that because unless it's called "shit" people will disagree. Nu-metal is post-thrash if you want to be literal.

My point is: I hate comparing albums and different artists, because they have separate strengths and weaknesses. One should be able to see from the album itself whether it is good or bad.

No way!!! Post is a very specific adition! The fact that is sounds more modern does not mean it's post! Post means abstract, progressive and profound!!

Post means after as a prefix. Cultural addons to that definition are not as important as the primary meaning.

Therefore, technically, metal is post-baroque.
