What I am trying to say here, is that Mayhem's new album, is a great album, from a great band, who understands to mix old with new

Eyesore how the fuck are you going to rant and rave about Machine Head and catapult them to classic status over Gamma Ray....if anything Gamma Ray and Kai Hansen had a more profound influence on heavy metal than those shit head traitors in MH.

Hit the bricks! Burn My Eyes is a classic album, you name one fucking Gamma Ray album that's had the same impact as Burn My Eyes did. Get the hell out of here. Gamma Ray has barely made it out of Helloween's shadow.

that was a good point

I hate to say that but though I like Gamma Ray way more than Machine Head, there's no doubt Burn My Eyes is more of a classic than any Gamma Ray album if you consider both bands impact on the metal world...

HT got pwnd

Well, no, I don't think anyone would mind a newer review being done, especially if there is one done badly. Case in point:

MAYHEM - GRAND DECLARATION OF WAR

That turdfest should be deleted. No offense to whoever wrote it. Nice name, though. I'm pretty sure I've seen a worse one out there, too.

What he is trying to say, is that he hasn't, and will never, practice proper usage, of punctuation, or use, a spell checker.

When I say Gamma Ray, what I mean is Kai Hansen seeing as how he's the mastermind behind both the Gamma Ray and early Helloween sound. So if we're going to take that route than I would say that your still wrong Eyesore. Instead of Power Plant I would cite Walls of Jericho as being more influential...and since Gamma Ray is basically Walls of Jericho Helloween I would say that any one of the good Gamma Ray albums are twice as influential as anything by Machine Head seeing as how the Gamma Ray sound was copied by a shit load of bands, whereas the Machine Head sound was basically the guys from Vio-lence trying to sound like Pantera and the last few Sepultura albums Max was on. Thus Gamma Ray (Kai Hansen) forged a sound that was copied by many, and Machine Head copied a sound that was forged by other bands. So fuck Machine Head and their grooves and on to Gamma Ray. We're fucking heading for tommorrow....so deal with it.

Who are you two? You're defending Gamma Ray like I said they suck! We're discussing whether or not an album is a classic. No Gamma Ray album is a classic...yet. And I doubt any will be, none that they've released so far, anyway.

Burn My Eyes, on the other hand, IS a classic. It's very simple to figure out really. Burn My Eyes had a MASSIVE impact on the metal scene, Gamma Ray did not. Simple.

This and "Somewhere Out in Space" are classics IMO (or will be classics). Eyesore, look at all the power metal bands who have named Gamma Ray as a major influence. If you're saying Machine Head is a classic b/c of how influential they were on new bands, then Gamma Ray deserves the same uhh... thunder. I mean they were a major influence on the majority of power metal bands out there, and there are a loooooooooot of power metal bands.

Influence is very different than impact. Gamma Ray is an amazing power metal band, but at the end of the day they're just another great power metal band. What impact did they have?

I think Tad is an amazing grunge band, and they're considered to be one of the best by millions of people, but Nirvana's Nevermind is a classic grunge album, regardless of Tad's popularity, they have no classics.

I've been through this before, but our definition of 'classic' is obviously very different.

I don't really understand why its a classic.....and what impact it had. All they were doing was playing groove metal. Pantera and Sepultura were doing it by 1990. Burn my Eyes came out in 1994. Whereas Kai Hansen had already been making an impact by 85, and Gamma Ray played a major impact in the resurgence of power metal in the early 90's before bands like Hammerfall and Nocturnal Rites, and after Helloween had turned to shit.
