Thats what impact means. Kai Hansen and through extension Gamma Ray changed metal. All Phil Demmel and that other fuck from Vio-lence did was ditch unprofitable thrash and start writing songs like Pantera. Thus to me they are of very little importance.

See, I wouldn't call that a classic either. I would say that Keeper I is the classic, you could argue for II, as well, but I think Keeper I changed the power metal world drastically.

Since in my opinion Gamma Ray's first album was the Pumpkin EP I definately think that they had more of an impact. Early Helloween had Kai Hansen on vocals, so does Gamma Ray, and the guitars are exactly the same because suprize suprize Kai Hansen wrote the music. Gamma Ray is in some strange warp zone because of Kai Hansen's metallic history, so you can't really treat Gamma Ray as other bands and you sure as hell can't compare them to Machine Head. ha ha so I guess kai hansen is a classic. Anyway my point is the first Gamma Ray album's were essentially the first two Helloween releases. So for that reason they had a bigger impact.

Sure I'd go so far as saying that. Basically the formula Hansen and Weikath established was put to better use in Gamma Ray as Helloween continued to get worse and worse.

If you delete Chameleon and Pink Bubbles Go Ape you'd be hard-pressed to find a bad period in Helloween's career.

Even those albums aren't all that bad. Helloween have always been the kings (for a thousand years). OH!!!

no real good Helloween album after Keeper 2 except fot Dark Ride which was kind of a miracle but, hélas, a sole miracle... :(
Keeper legacy is good but something is still missing and it might very well be Kai Hansen... :roll:

You're crazy. Besides Chameleon and Pink Bubbles I can't see a valid argurment for no real good albums.

I like Pink Bubble Go Ape. I haven't heard Chameleon, but if seemingly everyone is right then that equals a single outright bad album in an eleven album discography.

People who say Helloween lost it after Keeper II always talk about Chameleon, PBGA and then skip ahead to Rabbit Don't Come Easy. I'm yet to hear a convincing argument as to what the problem is with Time of the Oath and Better than Raw.

Regardless of what people think about Helloween's later releases I still think that Gamma Ray was always better than Helloween....except for the first two releases...which were essentially Gamma Ray albums..though under the Helloween name.

If you like Pink Bubbles, you'll like Chameleon. I think Chameleon is better. As for the releases that came after, I love every-single-one of them. I think Rabbit Don't Come Easy is highly underrated and I think The Dark Ride is ridiculously overrated! Haha. Still, overall there not a single Deris-era Helloween release that I think is even remotely bad. To me they're all very good to amazing.

Amazing...? That's the over statement of the year. No Helloween release after Keepers II is anything more than mediocre at best, they just simply don't have the charisma of the old material. They're generic and un inspired.
