I would rather say that along with FNM's Angel Dust it greatly influenced nu metal...

Whenever I go to buy that, I can never find it. Weird.

There's a tribal element. So it must be worked into the title.

Groovy Tribal Metal?

Atkins Death Metal, then.

So do I, but we're merely discussing a label here. Pigshit 'Metal' isn't a viable choice or I would've utilized it.

Groove metal seems about right to me. Interesting to see that not everyone worships this album like me. And no, I'm not the sort of person who goes on a forum expecting to see opinions similar to his own and refuses to tolerate any other opinions. To sum up "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks"

I was a massive Sep's fan back in the 90's and have all their albums from Beneath The Remains onwards...until i grew away from that change in sound around the time of Roorback.

I never thought at the time Chaos A.D was their best and complete album. I'd give that honour to Arise. Roots was their next best album, but fell apart after that once Max Cavalera left and created Soulfly.

So i'd have to say, no, Chaos A.D. is not a classic in my book. Sep may have gotten more popular with this release, but became superstars with Roots. Too bad it didnt last long before lineup changes started their dowmhill trend.

I have actually heard all that Sepultura has done before Beneath The Remains. Didnt like it as that is not my type of metal, but Troops Of Doom rocks

Which version of troops of doom? The one on schizophrenia is much better IMO.

Sepultura sold out with this album. Thier music clearly changed, but this wasn't a natural progression of musical style like the previous 4 albums. I think i was a cynical attempt to break into a new market, which they were very succesful at.

However this is a classic. It has influenced a lot of bands (mainly nu metal) and is arguably a cd that started a genre. It deserves its place even though its not sep's best album by any strech of the imagination just because of the impact that its had on metal.

Thats my opinion anyway
