I bought this album a week ago or so, solely based on this review and I wasn't disappointed. This is truly an amazing record. Besides from having a lot of atmosphere I have been humming the riff that starts from about 0:50 of March to the Sea as soon as I wasn't listening to the record for the last days. Actually I tend to think this is better than GY!BE's Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven. It just has a little more 'bite'. Some of Autumn Into Summer actually reminds me a bit of Alcest - Le Secret. I took this record for a walk in the park today. There was a barely noticable snowfall and the sun shone through the clouds now and then. It was like having a brain massage.

I'll cut the bullshit for now.

Have any of you heard anything else of Pelicans material? Is it as good as this one? If it is I'll have to get it...

I think I prefer Australasia, their previous album.. it's on my list to buy since I checked it out with mp3s first. I still have 'em if you need an advance listen..

What differences are there between Australasia and the new sketch?

Not many, just that I prefer the songs on Australasia. If you like one you'll probably like the other..

Australasia is more drony, and shows less post-rock.

Hmm, probably so, maybe that's why I like it more!

the same major-key, textured playing style is still evident most of the time.

Hmm. Well I'll end up buying it at some stage no doubt.

Has anyone heard any Lair of the Minotaur?

That would be wonderful.. How can I get them from you? E-mail? Some upload service? My technological capabilities are almost nonexistent, so you probably know better than I..

I just ordered this. I just started really getting to like Pelican about a week after they played in Leeds

But anyway, I had them down as being too similar to Isis (who I don't like at all), but now they have grown on me pretty quickly.

They played Glasgow only about a month ago and are here again in March (joint tour with Cave In, lamentably). Sure they're not swinging by your neck of the woods again?

Hmm...perhaps they may be... But I didn't notice them when I looked at the Leeds listings. I hope so, though. I shall have a gander.

If that's the case it would explain why I missed it... Even if it was I'd probably still go, though. I don't mind Cave In especially and it's been a very long time since I went out rockin'.

Cave In is quite nice.
