I'd rate this a little higher. More in the mid 80's but otherwise this is a solid slab of Death Metal and it's more interesting than their debut (which was very good itself).

These guys are my favorite pure death metal band. The musicianship is just flawless!

Pfft. Negation has nothing on this or Winds of Creation. WoC and Nihility are fantastic, Negation is just ok.

RC speaks the truth; The Negation is not worthy of the Decapitated moniker. It sounds more like a Decapitated cover-band, symbolized by a college sophomore groping a drunken girl in the back closet, hands seeking and only occasionally finding.

Organic Hallucinosis should be good, however.

WOW.

Jesus Weeping Christ on the Cross, I guess I need to drop EVERYTHING and go buy the other two Decapitated albums, because The Negation is the only thing by them I have heard, and I can't stop playing it. So evidently, these other two albums will cause my face to explode upon impact?

If they don't, they're not cranked up enough.

Well guys I went and picked up Nihility a week or so ago and honestly, I can't decide which one I like better. I listened to them both back to back several times, and to me, one doesn't really obliterate the other as you seem to suggest. Nihility seems to be more technical and intricate, but I don't know, I really like both of them. Shit The Negation at least deserves to be reviewed I mean c'mon. It still blows alot of other bands out of the water, even if it's not up to par with the other two albums. There's some subtle difference in the way Negation sounds that I like. It's almost as if it's a little "thicker" the sound is a bit heavier. Maybe they wanted to get away from what they were doing before because they didn't want to write themselves into a corner, if they did another album that was just like Nihility, then it would be that much harder to try new musical ideas the next time around, because it would seem too sudden. I mean, they pretty much have the whole inhumanly fast technical death metal thing down, I wouldn't be suprised if they are getting tired of playing it.

Maybe it's just because I'm a guitarist and lover of riffs, but Negation simply doesn't have the riffage of Winds or Nihility. I agree, I'll still listen to it over a lot of other stuff, but largely it bores me guitar-wise.

When I hear Spheres of Madness, all I can picture is a bunch of huge construction vehicles grouped together, moving without operators, almost like they are dancing... almost like they are doing "The Robot."

I don't care if it's soulless, it's still a great riff, a great song, great drumming, and all-around greatness.

Calling Decapitated 'soulless' is like calling Nile 'egyptian-inspired.' It's a foundation of their music and whether you enjoy it or not is up to personal preference.

I was sharing a silly observation about the song that makes me laugh everytime I hear it. I'd call Decapitated one of the more simple tech death bands, but I love them. Really. Prolly my favorite song, too. Don't remember saying "soulless."

I was hoping others would laugh with me, or at me for what I always imagine during the opening riff (god help me, it's hilarious), but okay. Guess I "crossed the line."

I think it's a really nice description, actually. That song does sound "mechanized", but in a great way. Powerful, accurate, crushing, unpitying.... Who wouldn't want to listen to that?

...oh, sorry.

It was funny, but I thought you were insulting the band.

My apologies, sirrah.
