Hmmm.... I'm not so sure that any musician purely interested in sales would do anything even remotely close to metal. I could be wrong, but I can't imagine these guys are making anything more than a comfortable living off their music.

'dems fightin' words! Let's take this outside....

Call me stuck in the past, but I really think Edguy hit their peak with VGO and Theater of Salvation. They've released very good/excellent material since, but they just seem better versed for that type of music (VGO & ToS) than the more starightforward melodic metal/rock albums we've heard since. Still, I enjoy this album, but I do hope they haven't abondoned their VGO/ToS sound forever.

That's where I'm at with Edguy too. I still listen to both of those albums on a regular basis, and thought that if they kept this up, they'd definitely be my favorite metal band right alongside LH. Hell, after I heard Avantasia, I figured Tobias was just going to explode onto the scene with the greatest Edguy album ever.

Enter Mandrake

Maybe you should abandon VGO and TOS one day,and try something else, like some old Deep Purple or Black Sabbath, don't you think?

You just can't help yourself, can you? For fuck's sake, people like different things to you. Get over it.

Here's a newsflash, stub, I know this will shock you to your very core - I happen to listen to both Edguy and old Black Sabbath (what, is something wrong with newer Sab?). Both of them. At differnet times. And lots of other stuff too. Crazy, eh?

I know you're like that, Radagast, and i respect you, cause you're somehow special! But i think you're a rarity, and lots of guys here listen to stuff like Edguy, simply because they don't know that there's something else better.

BTW,you should try some Alban Berg.

Well this was a great post. It really cleared some things up. Before reading it I thought you were and idiot. Now I know you're an idiot. Thanks for the help.

Nowadays, you can't tell if people are taking you serious as a joke, or if you are even joking right now.

I like Edguy, but not enough to get mad when someone slams them. I thought they peaked with ToS, but Mandrake was a fine album.

I personally think Mandrake was better than Hellfire Club and definitely better than Rocket Ride. All I was saying is basically that no Edguy album compares to either VGO or ToS.

Or maybe he should listen to whatever it is that he likes

Well, mister Orion,if i don't even have the right to give an advice to a young fellow,i guess these forums are useless.

Sorry to smite the facade, but 'giving advice' would require you to have knowledge that I am not privy to. It just so happens that 'knowledge' of superior music is entirely subjective.

The correct way to respond would've been "if I don't even have the right to share my opinion...", but since you chose not to respond that way, it just sounds like you're assuming that the bands you cherish are the best based on facts. You are more than welcome to have such thoughts, but should you care of how others view you, you may want to share your facts at least a bit more kindly.

And no, the forums are not useless, but I can assure that these specific forums are no place for 'advice' either. :P

I dont think I could have said it any better. I like the new Edguy but they did peak at these two albums, now the ideas are just not as awe-inspiring or mindblowing. I was hoping the Epic style of Theater of Salvation would continue or the power/grittinesss of Vain Glory. IT was like they found the perfect production/songwriting that they originally tried to implement on the debut- kingdoms of madness.
Oh well, This direction will never return, so we must be satisfied with what we are given or as many others are doing. move on :(

Not their best album admittedly, but still certainly worthy of a 85+ score. I personally found it refreshing to hear a band go almost completly away from what they usually do and try something different. people are just scared of things that are different from the expected. Some embrace it, some react with anger/fear.

Oh and trinidad is a pisser.

If they would have made a blackened power metal album, that would have been ultra cool!
