I was wondering whether any of you have knowlegde of bands that share all or some of the sound presented by these bands:

Forest of Fog
Wyrd
Drudkh
Nagelfar
Darkestrah
Alcest
Lunar Aurora
Bekhira
Woods Of Ypres
Odium Immortalis
Klabautamann
Nargaroth
Paysage D'Hiver
Nokturnal Mortum
Mystic Forest
Eikenskaden
Taake
Benighted Leams
Inheritus
Dornenreich
Vinterriket
Velvet Cacoon

as you can see Im pretty much the nature-loving, tree-hugging BM head. anyone know of any similar bands?

btw Nebelhymnen, Rota, L Elu Du Mal, Ferly Centesms, Der Ort, and Autumn Aurora all FUCKING RULE!

I have to say that that's pretty similar to my preferred black metal bands.. you're missing Ulver but that must be deliberate because Ulver are obvious.

perhaps Alkonost and In the Woods..?

yeah Ulver was deliberately left out. and its understandably old ulver.

thanks for Alkonost and In The Woods! hmm which albums should I go for? hmm info tells me that only early In The Woods is black.

@ Skartasis, Häive is fucking briliant! I can't seem to find any info on Dusk though...

Well, it is morelike Burzumic stuff, with a flavor of Judas Iscariot on it, but I just had a huch you might like it. Keep trying to find it, it's pretty nice.

I've only heard Alkonost's self-titled and it's hard to describe. certainly very treehugging though.

Heart of the Ages by In the Woods.. is their true black metal album, I suppose. luckily I like their tranquil progressive stuff that comes afterwards too.

oh and once again, I cant help it, Haive is really good! the samples I have sound like a cross between Huldrfolk and the Vargtimmen albums.

Hmm, Alkonost has too many minutes of just rain sounds for me. Do you know Nachtfalke? Pretty cool folk BM. It's an Occulta Mors solo project.

Yeah, if I wanted to hear rain I'd go live in England.

Check out The Black Laments Symphonie (2001) and The Last Dance (2002). These two are the best (especially TBLS).

TBLS is the more 'classical' of the two.
