Wow, this sounds like it's something I would really like. Though, dispite all the hearsay and rumor that might have come from all the shit they've done, I have yet to hear of them before reading the review.

Nope; not one bit.

By the way, this is one of those bands you'll love or you'll hate; many people simply don't get it and feel that there's absolutely nothing going on in their music; on the other hand, many people have this album as one of their favorites of the year.

So listen to it a lot, and decide. Not a very easy listen though, and definetly not for everyone; but give it time and you'll be rewarded.

I downloaded the album today, trying to figure out if it was good enough for me to buy, and let me tell you, the moment I finished listening to this the first time, I put it right back in for a second run. This literally blew me away.

I need to find a place to pick up this CD. If both listenes weren't a fluke(somehow), I think I might have a new favorite album of the year.

I definently agree with this. This is easily not for everyone.

I did:

The music in Genevieve is a blend between minimalist ambient music and Black Metal with a lot of experimentation going on; I understand that Velvet Cacoon played a heat powered guitar-like instrument they created, called “dieselharp” in this album; this can give you an idea of the heavy experimentation going on in this album.

I know my reviews are a bit boring but try to read them and not only check the score

If you loved Avalon Polo you'll be in love with this album forever. It is an excellent album; as I might have said before, one of my top 10 albums of the year; it would have gotten a 90 or more if it wasn't for the absoluteley boring and completley dissposable 17 and a half minute long closing track Bete Noir.

I actually like the ending. Yeah, 17 and a half minutes is a bit long, but it's still a very calming and cool track. It's my least favorite on the album, but I still like it.

I finally got around to listening to Avalon Polo & I'm in awe. This is fucking beautiful. I can't wait to get my grubby hands on this CD!... They almost make me want go under the influence while experiencing their music.

I've had several mp3s sitting on my hard drive for a while but never really listened to them in depth until now. But the heavier tracks off Genevieve are really unique and something astonishing to behold once the taste is acquired. Such a deep mesmerizing sound... It sounds so "otherwordly".

Well I have my wages now so the album will soon be mine. :D

I love how they fooled everybody with that "dieselharp" thing.

"They use this contraption, called a diesel harp, which is a steel bodied guitar where the pickups run on diesel fuel flames, the sound is then transmitted through fiber-optic cables into a 70 gallon aquarium filled with ocean water, wine and blood"

Lol. Who could guess they were joking ?

I know it's old news but it still cracks me up.

That is pretty lolworthy. Was anybody genuinely fooled though? I hope so because that would be priceless...
