Another of my favourite bands, Pretty Maids, excellent melodic Heavy Metal with killing vocals just released a new album. The only problem with Pretty Maids is that they like highs and lows… they can deliver perfect albums but right after release medium or even sometimes really bad albums (Stripped). But this one is more medium, it contains some cool tunes but they can do so much more better. The tone of the album is better than the one before, which contained 4 amazing catchy songs then nothing else… this one is more in the vein of Spooked in matter of aggressivity and song writing, but unfortunately is far from being as good as Spooked. The vocals are as always awesome, the guitar riffs are great and there’s some good tunes, some nice catchy melodies, but nothing really thrilling here, come on guys, after such bombastic albums like Red, Hot & Heavy, Future World, Jump The Gun and the excellent Spooked, you can do much more than this. Well it’s how I feel at least. Anyway, it’s a medium/good album for me. Being a huge fan I’m disappointed, even if I know I’m a bit hard with this release, I really waited for something better after the too easy “Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing”. This one is a bit better I guess, but still we are far from Pretty Maids finest hours. A worthy buy for fans and if you’re not looking for their best album that is, otherwise you might want to check it out first. Please guys, next time let’s make Future World 2 and blast us like you used to. And we know you still can (Spooked was a good example of direction to take). |
