Album of the month

Beware my melodic metal fans & friends, a typhoon is coming your way.

Oh la la, this is what I call a pleasant surprise... and an amazing release for our friends Mob Rules. The music is not fiercly fast, more 80's Hard Rock with impressive classical arrangements. Don't worry it's still metal, there's still good riffs and solos. But the real magic in this music is the arrangements and the song writing. But not to forget the excellent vocal parts. I really love that voice !

So the music contains all sorts of classical arrangements from keyboards, to violin/cello with some piano as well. The added classical/symphonic touch is a huge plus for this already melodic opus. The songs are very different one another and there's absolutely no boring moments. Some folk moments (violin based) will remember you Rhapsody (although I largely prefer these than the poor ones contained in Rhapsody last album). The arrangement are the key element that makes a big difference here. Not to forget the simply mind blowing production brought to you by Sacha Paeth (who said who ?). For those of you who don't know him he's simply Heaven's Gate guitarist and a fabulous producer (does the name Rhapsody ring a bell ?). As for the artcover, it's simply beautiful.

The album contains a 2 parts opus called the Sun Serenade, which contains a lot of classical arrangements actually. From melodic heavy metal, to mid-tempo and ballads you get : a very good vocalist, atmospheric & hypnotic guitars embraced by the sweet melodies of violins. This magnificent release holds everything for itself and will please all melodic/symphonic fans I am sure.

A buy-or-die melodic/symphonic metal masterpiece ! Congratulations Mob Rules !

Killing Songs :
All of them ! I can still hear the sweet melodies of violins in my dreams... forever !
