Filmed and recorded at the Sweden Rock Festival in June of 2006, The Motor City Madman brought his brand of highly Americanized Rock 'N Roll mayhem to the masses and delivered a blistering set of "Nuge" classics as well as a couple of newer tunes and a few surprises thrown in. Ted's band is now just a three piece with Ted himself handling all the guitar work. Affectionately known as "The Funk Brothers" Dokken's Mick Brown (drums) and Barry Spark (bass) provide the killer rhythm section for Ted Nugent's musical madness.

Wasting no time in getting the crowd into the show, the one-two punch of the classics Stormtroopin' and Wango Tango gets things cookin' right off the start. Also included in the set are Snakeskin Cowboys, Raw Dogs and War Hogs, Hey Baby and the concert staples for decades now; Free For All, Wang Dang Sweet Poontang, Dog Eat Dog, Motor City Madhouse (including Baby Please Don't Go), Cat Scratch Fever, Stranglehold and Great White Buffalo that also includes exerpts from Eagle Brother from his forthcoming album Love Grenade. Other Love Grenade tracks include Still Raising Hell. A rather forgettable and out of place version of Sam and Dave's Soul Man (made famous by The Blues Brothers) is also included in his Sweden Rocks set. The largely instrumental track KLSTRPHNKY really kicks ass, with the ending revisited several times throughout the show. The overall show quality is great with Ted showing that he still has it both as a guitar player and showman. Working off Ted's cues, Mick Brown and Barry Sparks provide a very tight rhythm section. The classics still sound great and are all well appreciated by the fans but it also leaves others scratching their heads at his ranting and raving and overall antics. His show is by Americans and for Americans with European audiences not quite "getting" what Ted is all about. I think he sensed that it might be a tough crowd and seems to win them over by mentioning his mom's Swedish background...clever Ted!! You can't knock the guy for giving it his all and absolutely nothing less than the 100% that his almost 60 year old body can muster.

Also available on CD, this set is a couple of tracks shorter with both Stranglehold and Great White Buffalo edited out. On the DVD version, we get 3 bonus live tracks recorded at the 4 Bears Music Fest; Journey To The Center Of The Mind, Weekend Warriors and Love Grenade. Also included is an interview session with Barry Sparks and drummer current Tommy Clufetos during the Love Grenade recording sessions as well as a section with Uncle Ted as he goes bow hunting and spends time on the gun range. Nothing but filler, Ted should keep his extracurricular activities to himself and stick to the music.

Overall, Sweden Rocks is a great Ted Nugent live DVD that fans should add to their collection. The newer material really goes hand in hand with the classics and even though Ted has slowed down and mellowed his onstage antics, he still plays a mean guitar. It's rock and roll party time when Ted's onstage and like he said on his legendary Double Live Gonzo album. "If you're not here to have a good time, turn around and get the f**k out!!
