Here comes another 5 songs MCD review.

These Swedish band plays a kind of death/thrash which is very technical somehow. The death part has to be credited to the vocals only as the rest of the song-writing belongs much more to the bay area.

I didn't check out their previous efforts and this reviews didn't excite me because I am not a big fan of this type of death/thrash metal. Their thrash metal parts remind me too much Testament (without the talent) and the rhythm is too heavy, not melodic enough for my taste.

Sometime they remind me Cathedral with their "pounded riffs", but where Cathedral delivers a genius music, Lobotomy is too traditional and boring. Their guitars is cool for a short period of time, but then you get tired of them.

Overall this one should please death/thrash metal fans out there and I suppose their early fans ... but personally I prefer to listen to the new melodic death metal wave as I never really entered into the old death/thrash school. At the end, this 5 songs piece is also too repetitive and I have this strange feeling that the same song was played again, again and again.

Now this should not turn you down: it's a quite good record, but I guess it is just a question of taste !
