Surprise of the month

Jorn Lande, born in the heart of Norway one day in 1968 and singer of Ark & Millenium, is back with its new solo album. Today, he is one of the finest hard rock vocalists around, sounding very much like a clone of David Coverdale.

Last year, he began his solo career with Starfire, an album which comprised five covers (City Boys, Deep Purple, Foreigner, Journey, Jefferson Starship) and five originals songs. After a very busy winter which brought him to an increasing notoriety thanks to his North American tour with Yngwie Malmsteen and his participation in the Beyond Twilight (excellent record !) and Nostradamus project, Jorn returns with Worldchanger.

With such a title, you can easily think Jorn has an enormous ego or think he is one of the best around. Once you will have listen to this jewel, you will understand why this one is called Worldchanger Hard rock back from ashes would have also been a good title to resume this masterpiece. Somehow the best of Dare (Blood From Stone), Whitesnake (1987) and Scorpions (Face The Heat), all in one.

Immediately with the first track, Tungur Knivur (don't ask me what it means !), you realize Jorn is a wonderful vocalist and an unbelievable good songwriter (all melodies and lyrics are written by the guy himself). This song starts very much like God Of Thunder (Kiss) and is simply perfect and really an heavy song. Jorn will not give you enough time to take a breath, because on second track, Sunset Station, he simply blow our mind away. This song is the best one I have heard this year : fantastic chorus that enters inside your brain and will not leave you anymore ... actually hunts you night and day.

Jorn's vocal on Bless The Child, where Coverdale and Halford have been invited (in fact he sings for them), proves this guy does what he wants when he wants. I could talk hours and hours of this Worldchanger, which proves at least that hard rock is not dead, not at all. You are fans of Scorpions, Whitesnake, Dare, Foreigner, Journey, Night Rangers (9th track) stop reading this reviews and run as quickly as you can and buy what I call "the mega surprise of the year". Heavy, powerful, melodic, progressive, slow, fast ... all in one.

Now sorry guys, but I need to listen to this CD again ... as it acts on me like a drug : the more I listen to it, the more I hit the play button.

Killing Songs :
Every song will kill you, but Sunset Station exploded me !!!
