The Armada proudly send us their MCD The Scent Of Darkness ... and if I was part of a band like this one, I would also be proud to send such an album to the media.

The Scent Of Darkness reminds me very much Iron Maiden and Dirk Schaeffner (vocals) is the first to "blame" as the guy must be the brother of Bruce Dickinson. It is absolutely amazing how the guy sings like Bruce ... naturally. Congratulation Dirk, as you know how to sing and you have already a wonderful "well known" voice.

Musically I would rather say that The Armada is a bit more technical and progressive compare to Iron Maiden as the guitar melodies and the solos differs very much from the famous British band. Every band is influenced by someone else music, but only the best are able to digest their direct influences and release a more "personal picture". The Armada belongs to this type of bands.

The Scent Of Darkness is a classical symphonic heavy/power metal album, where both Iron Maiden & Malmsteen (particularly the fifth track, Wheel Of Fate) are well represented, but within these 17 minutes of heavy/power metal, I have understand one thing : these guys have talent and know how to use their instruments. The song writing is good and the production made by Achim Köhler (Primal Fear, Brainstorm) is really good.

The Armada will have to confirmed our first impression with their full album, but I am almost sure it will be a killer as these German metalers have talent. To be continued ... very shortly I hope.
