This album soured a lot more with age than I expected it too. Now I think its an 80 or 85 rather than a 99... far below Ocean Machine/Terria/Infinity/Physicist
I think it's like all of his albums, the enjoyment level fluctuates because it's more like relative emotions set to music. If I'm in a somber mood I'm not going to enjoy the Infinity album as much, you know? It's too chaotic.
I dunno, once I got used to Terria and Ocean Machine I've never thought they were at all flawed, but I think Synchestra seems to drag on (at the same time I can't think of any songs that I would cut out)
I don't think any of his albums are flawed, I just think the way he writes makes it impossible to enjoy an album of his at any given time, on any given day. His emotions dictate his music immensely, I mean, he tackles certain aspects of certain emotions on every album and I think it translates well, but if I'm not in a contemplative mood, for instance, I may not enjoy Synchestra as much. But when I'm sitting down, staring off into space, just thinking, then Synchestra is going to hit home. You know?
It's not a flaw, it's perfection.
