Worst... Cover Art... Ever. I would think for something like The Divine Comedy, Sepultura would have some beautifully drawn/painted cover art to reflect the epic nature of the album. But instead they opt for a picture that looks like a fifth grader could've drawn it. Definitely detracts from what's supposed to be Sep's "musical epic."
Anyway, I've heard one song from this album and was pretty underwhelmed. Derrick's vocals have certainly improved since Against and Nation, but still lack the power of Max's vocals. That whole "hardcore" style of music never really appealed to me. And yes, Soulfly is a much better band than Sepultura right now (for the record, they always were better than Green-era Sep).
I agree with one of the posters here. Sepultura is the kind of band that will always persevere and continue to quietly produce/release albums regardless of whether or not anybody really cares (notice this album didn't get the "Major Event" label in its review) - a lot of people probably don't even realize Sepultura still exists. With that in mind, I guess they should be commended for having that much passion for their music (most bands would have hung it up at this point in their careers). Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean we have to like it.
It was me. And how can you say Soulfly is better? Observe:
Soulfly= Nu -> Thrash
Sepultura= Death -> Thrash -> Groove -> Nu -> Hardcore -> Thrash
They're going back to their roots ( :roll: ) whilst Soulfly are just changing to reflect metalcore. And I stand by it: Green is a better vocalist than Max.
Old Sepultura (ie. Sepultur with Max) certainly beats the pants off Soulfly. But Soulfly certainly beats the pants off new Sepultura. Of course, this is just my opinion.
The style of music a band plays means nothing compared to the actual quality. I'd much rather listen to "good nu-metal" than "bad thrash metal." And Sepultura hasn't released a serious thrash metal song since Biotech is Godzilla.
