Aside from "Here and Now" and "Sex and Religion", this album has never quite grabbed me like "Passions and Warfare"....

"Deep Down Into The Pain" is one hell of a song! It was the first I'd heard off this album and it blew me away. Aside from Devin's amazing vocal performace (he was 19, by the way, not 21), this album didn't do a whole lot for me. Vai is a killer guitarist, but not an amazing songwriter.

Hmmm, it was released in ´93 and Devin was born in 1972...or was this album recorded already in ´91? If so, I hail your vast stockpile background knowledge, Great Kenster of the Clouds :)

Hmm, I agree that on his intrumental records Vai has had considerable amounts of filler, but this album just kills on the songwriting side as well! Well, every dog may lick the toilet bowl it likes, and I will opt for the one on Sex & Religion *end lameass metaphor*

This album is pretty cool. I only bought it a couple of weeks ago after having it in *gasp* mp3 format for a few months.

I don't know. I never compared dates, but Devin has said many times that he was only 19. It doesn't matter much anyway.

I don't dislike this album, I just don't find it to be so amazing. I think it's mediocre overall with some good tunes, and one amazing song.

I was a huge SYL/Devin Townsend fan before I even realized he was singing on this album, and I'd had it since it came out!

Some fanboy I am.

I got to know Devin from this album, i remember Vai and Devin appearing on Mtv presenting the Deep Down Into The Pain video, and thought it was awesome, i believe there is also a video for In My Dreams With You.

I happen to like this album, there are some really good songs here, Touching tongues is one of my favourite instrumental Vai songs, in fact of all the guitar virtuosos, Vai's style of playing is the one i like the most.

Hmmm, straight from the geniuses mouth then. Yeah, doesn't matter much but I'll change it into the review anyway. As a fan of nitpick-trivia I must have tidbits like this in correct form :)

Touching Tongues is one of my all time favorite Vai songs. This is a great album. Devy sounds amazing on it.
