Seremban/MalaccaPetaling Jaya/Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia
I alternate between these towns cos my hometown's in Seremban, college's in Malacca, intership in Petaling Jaya and I bum around in Kuala Lumpur quite often.
Anybody planning a trip to Malaysia soon?
I was in Malaysia last year... I spent a few days in Malacca, and it ended up being one of my favorite cities in SE Asia. The old section of town with the Chinese-style shrines was really pretty (especially when they lit up the lanterns at night), and I liked all the Pirate stuff in the museum. KL I didn't like so much... it was big and bustling, but not too interesting. Have you ever been to Kuching on the Malaysian side of Borneo? That's another place that was really laid-back and just pleasant to be in.
Oh, one thing I have to know... what's up with Chicken and Rice? Maybe I just went to all the wrong restaurants, but all I remember eating in Malaysia was Chicken and Rice... after two weeks I thought I was going to grow fucking wings.
I have been to Kuching several times. I dug it a lot, very laid back and relaxed. I drank till 4 in the morning at the bar in the Holiday in with a band from KL and the He-shes in it were dedicating songs to my co worker, crazy times. Brutal freaking hangover at the Kuching Airport with no Air-Con was brutal.......
I like the Chinese food in Melaka a lot too, better then Singapore but not close to Taiwan or China. If you go to Melaka again, find the City Bay View Hotel, right across the street from that is a Chinese Seafood Rest open air, it is called Lee something (that is all the Chinese I can read), they can speak English, order their Fried Rice, Green Samba style fish and the hot plate deer meat, incrediable. Also keep walking down that main street and their is the Famosa Chickend Rice place which is great and then keep going and you hit the tourist stuff (which seems you already found) lots of cool shit there just always bargain if you buy anything.
Funny thing about Melaka is I work there usually but one time I took an ex GF there for like a vacation and she was from the Phils but looks a little different and everywhere we went dudes kept asking her is she was Malay, I guess inter racial dating stuff isn't allowed or something there (unless you are Chinese Malay or something) it was bizarre, at least 4 times that happenend.
Anyways, cool place, cool country.
