Could Deathspell Omega be considered anti-Christianity or just focus their subject matter on satanism?
Based on their two interviews, i'd go more with the latter. But i can see how all the theological/philosophical contemplation and religious imagery in their lyrics could be interpreted as a sophisticated form of blasphemy (fighting Christianity with it's own weapons or something like that.)
That's what I picked up as well. They sound like they are very well read on theology, almost good enough to write a book. Vaguely I think they kind of suggest that Satan was cast down onto the earth for the truthbringer that he is and is sharing the same fate as us humans, thus he should be worshiped because he brought us the whole pleasures of the flesh and life, sacrificing himself in the process. The first rebel in history. They sound like they take some of the bible and actually believe it and practice it, but are completely blasphemous about the others. A different sort of Satanism, like you said.
They're very intelligent and sophisticated people from what I understand. I'd like to see more interviews with them but.... Maybe with the new album now they will do one.
Traptunderice, if you're interested here is a very in depth analysis of the Si Monvmentvm album if you can be arsed to read it. Mostly focuses on the lyrics and the whole ideaology of Deathspell Omega. A very good and interesting read.
Here be
and here is their most recent and only one of 2 interviews.
