Cigars are once in a blue moon thing for me. Cigarettes are a daily necessity while beers are a must have during weekends, lots of them. Hard liquor is on the menu during an occasion, when you need something to celebrate over here. They cost a bomb.
I bet you guys enjoy so much liquor cos they must be pretty cheap over there. Here, cigarettes and liquor are considered vices and get taxed fuckin o'er the roof!!!! Entertainment tax, they say.
1 packet Class A cigarettes (Dunhill, Marlboro etc) - RM 8.20/ USD 2.20
1 can of beer (Carlsberg, Tiger etc) - RM 7.00/ USD 1.90
1 can of imported beer (Buds, Fosters) - RM 10.00/ USD 2.70
1 bottle of beer (750ml) - RM 15.50/ USD 4.10
1 bottle JD 750ml - RM120.00/ USD 31.60
1 bottle Martell VSOP regular - RM 150/ USD 39.50
1 bottle Bombay Sapphire - RM 250.00/ USD 65.80
1 bottle Martel VSOP blue label - RM 450.00/ USD 118.42
The entertainment tax that includes tobacco and liquor is 13% over here. It might be increased next year.
Foreigners will enjoy themselves cos of their conversion rate. If you actually look in USD, like I've stated, it's not expensive at all. But in ringgit, it's so fucking expensive. Imagine, a meal here costs an average of RM 5.00/ USD 1.30. I'd have to starve 90 meals just to buy a Martell VSOP Blue Label. Shite. That's why I resort to weekend drinking only. Can't afford it man! I'm still in college!!! I hate the fuckin Brits!!! Their beer cost 90p a pint!!
