Just read this:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/ju ... =worldnews

I'm all for it, personally. It'll make people think a bit more about their treatment of animals, not to mention the fact that in some areas of the world people are still treated worse than animals. Plus, I want to see this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7nNaUAW ... re=related

happening everywhere, because as TheOctavarious would say, that shit's awesome.

If Peter Singer supports it, I agree with it. Ever since reading about him and learning that PETA actually goes about their business very intelligently, I'm an avid animal rights supporter. I'm not a vegetarian but I wish I was; meat is just so good compared to spinach and its ilk.

Go for it.

But it's not really human rights... human rights include free speech and free assembly etc, which I don't support for apes.

Tell me, your discrimination for spiders is because they are ugly and sting you if you try to squish them?
Everyone should get rights, except humans of course, the lowest kind of life on earth.

Maybe if Peta didn't youthanize more animals than anyone in the world they would have some credibility7. That and their whole "complete animal liberation" bullshit makes me sick. If they had their way no one would have the right to own an animal for any reason. Fuck them.

I'm going to take a stand and defend PETA. PETA euthanizes, through injection, animals that are too healthy to live a "normal" life without constant medical care. PETA does its best to care for as many animals as it can yet since the animals in its care have a much higher standard of living it is more expensive than the care provided by the SPCA.

PETA bases much of its agenda off of ideas like Peter Singer's where it puts animals on the same level as humans. That leads to pet ownership equaling slavery whether you force your animal to work in the fields or keep it locked inside all day.

In defense of PETA, PETA's most prolific campaign has been against KFC. PETA secretly bought mass amounts of KFC stock and then preceded to pass a policy to gas the chickens instead of hacking off their heads with buzzsaws. The gas left the chickens completely safe to eat , was cheaper to use and was much safer to work around for the employees as opposed to the saws.

KFC agreed to the policy and it went to the owner of KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut who being an obstinate prick said no because he wasn't willing to put out the effort. Maybe he was just a brutal death metal fan. Therefore PETA began a viral campaign and physical protests outside the stores in order to gain support.

I'm coming around to the PETA camp, especially after my decision to join the Green Party here when my finances are sorted out better. One of the animal rights manifesto points is to close zoos, and when you see the effect that captivity can have on aminals, especially of the big cat variety, few would argue.

You're on the road to being one of those grave desecrating ALF nuts, Zad. :P

But in all seriousness, it's certainly a worthy cause, despite the fact that some supporters get all smug and superior and generally drive people away.

PETA and the Spanish government are retarded left-wing airheads with no regard for the value of civilisation whatsoever.

Why do you involve spanish government in this???

Well, spanish government is not tha bomb, but is better than a lot ov governments out there.

Better than North Korea, Iran, Zimbabwe, France & U.SA. goverments for sure

Peta are a bunch of left-wing retarded hypocrites.

anywho... I don't believe in human rights for apes. But I believe monkeys should be protected from extermination and kept away from harm inflicted by mankind.

saw a program the other day about some big gorillas in Congo that had been hunted down or driven away from their habitats for the sake of making cheap charcoal. This was not endorsed by the government or anything, but I still makes you think about how human activities makes life miserable for so many other species. I don't believe in saving every single little shitty bug species on the planet, though. Species come and go - that's the way of life, but some species are more important to save than others.

Does this mean we can classify black people as part of the great ape families, then?
