I would have to MMA is the one "sport" I can't get into. I actually think it is a gimmick, not a sport. I have friends that fight in local MMA matches as well as statewide fights, but I can't even find myself going to cheer for them. Boxing, on the other hand, is awesome. I like the set of rules they have to keep from killing the other person. Plus it just seems more classy(?) than MMA.
With how corrupt boxing has become, I actually think MMA is the more classy of the two, though that hasn't always been the case.
Since the advent of MMA rules and their getting accepted by State Athletic Commissions, it is a lot more technical and fun to watch in my opinion. You should give it another chance NESS. A lot of these guys, particularly in the UFC, are skilled martial artists who rely just as much on their jiu-jitsu skills as they do on their punches and kicks. A straight up brawler will never be able to sustain a career in MMA. I mean, look at Kimbo.
I used to prefer boxing over MMA by a mile, but now its the other way around.
I guess I didn't watch it with an open mind. It's so rare that I actually get a chance to watch it too. Like I said I have friends that fight, maybe I'll go see their next fight.
I love to see all the hockey fans. I wish it would get some more airtime. I don't have cable so all I see are the highlights on espn.com.
