Well, i purchased Regressus about 3 or 4 months ago, and I thought that it was a decent enough album. The problem I had with it was that I found that most of the songs sounded the same. I think that it had a lot to do with the vocalist. It seems like he hits the exact same note on every song. I love his voice, but he really needs to change it up a little. I will admit though that the song "Mystic Prophecy" on Regressus was a fucking killer track!

Given my previous remarks, do you think that this album is any different? Do they sprinkle a bit more keyboards in? I think that would help out a little bit....

Mystic Prophecy are a good band to listen to but I dont see them making three or more albums. They just dont have "it" nowhere to grow into. Their style is rutted and set in stone. Sorta like Primal Fear although they seem to be trying to get themselves outta that deep hole of cliche that they're in.

I agree to some degree, but I think they can easily fix their problem:

1. need to make fewer songs 9 tops, not counting instrumentals

2. add new elements like keyboards or orchestrations

3. add 2nd vocalist for more variation or maybe have guest vocalists

4. make some very fast and/or some very slow songs

But in any case how come nobody minds when the likes of Edguy release practically the same stuff, I rather listen to Mystic Prophecy or even Primal Fear than to annoying Edguy which everyone loves.

If anything, this album might contain songs that sound even more the same than the songs from Regressus. It sounds like the same GOOD song granted, but you'll still get the same "been there, done that" feeling. The guitar work is a bit more thrash inspired, which in turn reduces the impact of the melodies, and there are no keyboards to mix things up either.

The band certainly has talent, and I like the singer. But, like Ben said, they just don't have "it." The album goes by, and there are no bad songs, but nothing stands out either. Good album, but nothing special. Nothing on the album will piss you off as far as quality is concerned, and you will enjoy listening to the songs. But, I predict that after 2 weeks, you will have moved on to something else, practically forgetting this album. As far I my quotes go, I usually would purchase anything that I rate 80+, while scores in the 70's represent good albums, but ones that should be sampled before shelling out $$$. THis is a good album, but there are a lot of just "good" albums out there; I can't afford to buy all of them! I only buy albums that stand out to me, and this album misses that cutoff. The talent is certainly there, but they will have to take a more interesting approach to their music in order to avoid a rather boring rut.

This is already available. Listen to Lia's other band Valley's Eve; the "Deception of Pain" album. There is no second singer, but Lia is good enough on this output. And it has 12 songs ... but 12 tops.
