Very nice.
Classic album for sure, and Maidens best.
Every track kicks ass; from the opening lines of The Ides of March to the closing notes of Drifter, this album rules.
Favorite tracks:
Another Life, Innocent Exile (the opening bass lines are killer)Murders in the Rue Morgue, Ghengis Khan, Wrathchild... but they are all awesome.
Huh!
You're not saying Prodigal Son is among your fav' tracks. Me very sad.
Anyway, classic album and my fav' with Piece of Mind.
They are all excellent, but those that I listed always stood out the most.
You like Piece Of Mind more than Number Of the Beast?
The problem with Piece Of mind is (was) that it was over-played; back in the spring of 83, that's all that was to be heard issuing from tape decks everywhere ( that and Def Leppard's Pyromania). Good album, though.
I've always found that the weak tracks on NotB (Gangland, Invaders, Run to the Hills [not that weak per se but I hate the chorus]) were weaker than those on Piece of Mind (Quest for Fire, Sun and Steel) and, then, it has my all-time fav' Maiden song (Revelations). I won't say it's flawless, but then no Iron Maiden album is, but it's the closer to perfection they ever got.
Yeah, I've heard that from a lot of people over the years regarding
Gangland, Invaders, Run to the Hills, and I tend to agree.
The lyrics to invaders are ace, though.
I like the overall feel of Number Of the Beast slightly more than Piece Of Mind. Piece of mind is a great album, it just suffered from overexposure.
