This is defintly an album that takes getting use to for some fans that are more use to a different sound. I think this is an awesome and great effort from Labyrinth. Im especially pleased at some of the electronic parts that they put into the album and didn't decide to ditch that tradition for the new sound.
Its defintly different, but that doesnt mean its "bad," and I think they are just fine without Olaf. Olaf is doing his thing, Labyrinth is doing theirs. If people can't get over that fact by now, then you don't have to listen. That is my opinion.
It is hard enough in this industry for a band to switch it up a bit without fans souring at their attempts every time in bitterness. I think they did a fantastic job with this album and its defintly a step up from the last album, which was more a bridge between the old style and the new one.
Their new guitarist Pier is great! I got the album with the DVD in it and he did an awesome job replacing Olaf in all of his solos when they did Moonlight, Piece of Time and many other classics. He even added extra notes in there and still was in time...that guy is just amazing. lol. Ive listened to his other project as well and its very nice, Odyssea is great!
