Blah... The first song caught my interest on the first listen, but after that it just didn't work for me. On the second listen, I usually hear what I missed the first time, but this time I found I didn't even like the first song anymore! I don't like the production either, a little weak. This band just isn't the same anymore without Olaf Thorsen.

Here's a short review I did:

Italian power metallers return with their fifth full length album after 2003's excellent self-titled release. With that release we saw the band progress in style—or digress, as some seem to think—to more of a traditional power metal band, shedding much of the Euro speed metal sound of their earlier releases. This new release shows a band more dynamic and experimental than on its predecessor. Freeman is decidedly heavier, as well.

The band still has that old school Fates Warning sound, most notable in Roberto Tiranti’s amazing vocals. The harmonies are outstanding. Musically they seem to have incorporated more instrumentation, or at least used it to a better, more noticeable degree. Most of the songs are in the mid-tempo range, but some like “Deserter” and “Dive In Open Waters” are clearly some of Labyrinth’s heaviest songs to date, showcasing a more thrash sound than any we’ve heard from them before.

Fans of power metal would be well advised to check Labyrinth out. This new album is a great addition to their catalog, albeit a slightly different addition compared to earlier releases.

At last some prog on Metalreviews, I'm dead tired of all the black and death-reviews.

I wasn't too keen on this on the first couple listens, but it's really good.

One of my only beefs is on the title track -- it sounds like the tune is building up for a killer solo section, but all we get is one measure ...

Really like it I think it shows a very capable band that aren't limited to one style . I don't know if I prefer it over their last effort which was a great sounding cd but it's up there one of the best so far this year.

This is defintly an album that takes getting use to for some fans that are more use to a different sound. I think this is an awesome and great effort from Labyrinth. Im especially pleased at some of the electronic parts that they put into the album and didn't decide to ditch that tradition for the new sound.

Its defintly different, but that doesnt mean its "bad," and I think they are just fine without Olaf. Olaf is doing his thing, Labyrinth is doing theirs. If people can't get over that fact by now, then you don't have to listen. That is my opinion.

It is hard enough in this industry for a band to switch it up a bit without fans souring at their attempts every time in bitterness. I think they did a fantastic job with this album and its defintly a step up from the last album, which was more a bridge between the old style and the new one.

Their new guitarist Pier is great! I got the album with the DVD in it and he did an awesome job replacing Olaf in all of his solos when they did Moonlight, Piece of Time and many other classics. He even added extra notes in there and still was in time...that guy is just amazing. lol. Ive listened to his other project as well and its very nice, Odyssea is great! :)

Holy crap! I finally decided to pick this up (mainly b/c of the review). This is indeed a great album. Much better than previous releases. Man they got progressive as hell.

I think this album is atleast on par with Return to Heaven Denied, the band has really found a new sound that suits them, can't wait to hear what they'll release next.
