I can see its usefulness in that respect. In my case it's probably a personal preference. I largely get my new from news sites or Metro and don't really feel the need to change that. But you have brought up a good point and I can see its use in instances like the Middle Eastern uprisings as far as speed of transmission and getting information directly from the source.

In retrospect my previous post was probably just backlash/annoyance at the average person who uses it to advertise every moment of their existence. Its the attention whorism of the average person a la facebook status and so on that I don't like. As though I care if someone just dropped a cornflake on their toe.

I am the most metal (and paranoid) person in existence. Therefore, not only do I not have a facebook account, I didn't even know what twitter was until this thread. In fact, my sign on name here is a disguise of a disguise. :dio:

There's only so many social networking things I can keep up with, so Facebook is all I have.

It is actually my brother's wife's uncle's stepmom's basement, but other than that you have me exact. :omfg:

Yeah.

I don't mind the banality of social networking sites because I just seem them as an extension of conversations people have with their friends.
