When the best thing you can say about someone is that he had a cameo in an Adam Sandler movie, you know something's wrong.
Come on, Billy Idol is shit as far as I'm concerned. Is this METAL Reviews or 'washed-up fuckwit rock reviews'?
Even if you are starting to review more hard rock (what FOR?) you shouldn't cut down on the metal.
It's really quite simple.....Sanctuary Records sends me some promos once in a while and if I feel they're appropriate to review for Metal Reviews then I do it. Besides, they've been responsible for getting be the Dave Mustaine interview and the Queensryche interview (coming soon...). Other artists on their label such as Bruce Dickinson, Dio etc. are no brainers...of course we will review them. Other stuff, well it's a gray area. I like the Billy Idol and thought that it was good enough to share with the readers. This album is more harder and more "metal" than the Adrian Belew CD I reviewed for them and I don't see the same sort of comments on that one. I was hoping that the readers would be a little more open-minded and not jump to conclusions before actually listening to this album....sadly, I was proven wrong.
Meshuggah - Catch 33
Surely one of the most interesting and experimental albums of the year, started a huge debate about whether this is the future of metal or pointless boring wankery. Is there a review on MR? No.
Ulver - Blood Inside
The next step forwards for the ex-BMmers, showing their unique style and musicianship. Is there a review on MR? No.
Dream Theatre - Octavarium
The latest release by the prog metal giants, already dividing critics (Terrorizer - 5/10). Is there a review on MR? No.
Billy Idol - Devil's Playground
New album from some blond guy who was in an Adam Sandler movie, and was sort of popular in the 80's. IS there a review on MR? Yes.
