Friday was date night, yesterday was soccer, steak and red wine night, and today? Well, I'm writing an article on sleep deprivation and obesity, reading some circulatory physiology, attend a meeting at work, watch some soccer and then fix some nutrition guidelines for a client. Fun times.

i gotta download the highlander tv series. i never watched it but i have seen all the movies. one of them was a stinker but all in all i like them.

I really really liked the first couple seasons. The TV show starts off on the right foot with a two part episode with christopher lambert, so it's like right off the bat you get another movie. There were some really cool guest spots on that show too.

With Highlander it is weird. The timeline is strange as the second movie is an alternate timeline from the Endgame movie which assumes different outcomes than what the vast majority of the franchise shows. Highlander III is really good and is the direct sequel to the first movie. I think after that, the TV shows tell what happens next. In other words, don't miss part 3, but the second one might as well be fan fiction.
Yup the second one just didn't make sense. But the third was the one where Sean Connery came back I think right? That was good. The one with Christopher lambert and Adrian Paul was good. I loved the first and probably watched it at least 20 times threw out my life.

No, he came back in the second one. The version that is currently in print on DVD fits the continuity since they completely re-edited the movie. The funny thing about it is that the creators of the movie insist that the explanations given in the second movie was their original backstory, but it made a better movie keeping it a mystery. They claim that fans simply did not want to hear the answers given and they recut the movie to fit with the rest of the franchise that they had no control over. I personally have no problem with immortals being aliens myself.

Good stuff, Tom. And how are things on other fronts?

EDIT: Where the hell is Zad?

The second movie director's cut isn't bad, but it's still not a great film. The first is easily the best. The third one was alright. I liked Endgame for the nostalgia factor, but as a film it kinda sucked. There are two more films after that with Adrian Paul, but I've never considered watching them.

The TV series is great, if you take it with a grain of salt. It's a little campy, but the characters are cool. I remember liking the TV series growing up, but I don't know if there is ever a moment in the TV series that can be quite as badass as the first film and that kinda sucks. If there is any part that will match it, I think it will be the Four Horsemen storyline. We'll see.

Oh, and moved all my stuff this morning. New hotel room is awesome.

Kyle, I don't remember, are you teaching now? I know you are currently working on your PH.D but can't you still be an instructor with a Master's?

Not yet. I have a research fellowship which basically enables me to take all my time focusing on my studies. It's a nice deal, but I need to start teaching next year just for the experience. I'll probably pick up a class next fall at the local community college.

Well, after my mother failed chemotherapy she has become gradually better as she's finally recovered from that major surgery she had when they tried to remove the tumor. As far as I know the cancer spread to a lymph node which they also removed, however they recommended chemo as a safety net in case it had already spread from there which it tends to do very quickly.

However, by failing to go through with chemo there's a chance that the cancer has spread further, and her tests are not looking all that good to be honest. That may have to do with her deprived nutritional status though. Lots of obstacles still to come. Baby steps.

Good luck to your family. We are all hoping everything turns out for the best, obviously.

Have you heard the rumor that cannabis oil kills cancer cells? Cancer is unfortunately a myriad of unique diseases and can not be treated like a singular problem, though, and I personally am disgusted that there is an industry of people making money off the mythology surrounding it.

Right on, man. Power through it and live the moments that you have. Moving away isn't comparable to watching a family member struggle through such a trying disease, but I'll never regret the day before I left I woke my mom up, took her to brunch and dropped silly amounts of money for baseball tickets just so that we were hanging out together. With stuff like that, no matter what happens you're going to be happy that you took the time if you can.

As to the thread, I may possibly go see Big Chocolate in DC if I can't convince/fund my best friend to fly out here and party it up with me. I'm not taking well to this moving thing and her coming out here would get her mind off her issues and perk me up. Plus partying how we do would be fun to show off to the douchebags I live with.

Hah, yeah, to shift the focus away from my mother;

This weekend:

I will bring my brother to powerlifting practice this friday. Trying to get him into that and keep him from sitting on his ass all the time. Otherwise, no plans just yet. Lady is coming home friday night, so I guess there will be dinner. Saturday and Sunday are both open. Sports and beer.

Ok, let's see how well I know you.

Tankard, Overkill, Black Sabbath, Kreator. Those are the easy ones.

Then probably Trouble. And..(I'm guessing now)..Threshold?

And the one you have an interest in is....shit. Darkest Era?

Damn, that was harder than I thought. How'd I go?
